Indonesia , Anak Krakatau :

An eruption of Anak Krakatau occurred on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 9:08 p.m. WIB. The height of the eruptive column was observed to be ±1,000 m above the summit (±1,157 m above sea level). The ash column was gray in color with moderate to thick intensity, oriented towards the Northwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 78 mm and a duration of 45 seconds.

Italy / Sicily , Etna :

Press release on the activity of Etna, November 26, 2023, 09:34 (08:34 UTC).

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Osservatorio Etneo, announces that Strombolian-type eruptive activity continues at the Southeast crater. This activity is confined to the proximal zone of the crater and presents a variable regime in terms of intensity and frequency of appearance of explosions. The explosive activity produces modest emissions of ash which disperse quickly in the atmosphere in a southeast direction, as indicated by the forecast model.

The average amplitude of the volcanic tremor continues to show a variable trend over time with rapid oscillations between medium and high values. Concerning infrasound activity, since yesterday afternoon, the presence of strong winds does not make it possible to reliably assess the frequency of appearance of infrasound events and their location. Regarding deformations, the signals recorded by the inclinometer network do not show significant variations.

Further updates will be communicated shortly.

Japan , Iwo Jima :

Niijima was confirmed to be emitting fumaroles several tens of meters high into the sea, about 1 km off the coast of Okinahama, on the southern coast of Iwo Jima. No rash was detected.
Niijima is composed of lava and pyroclastic materials and measures approximately 400 m from north to south and approximately 200 m from east to west. Fumaroles rise from lava flows and pyroclastic cones. The pyroclastic cone is located near the center of the southern tip of Niijima, with land extending to the north, southeast, and west of the pyroclastic cone.
Evidence was found of a small-scale lava outflow southeast of Niijima Crater.
Discolored water ranging from dark brown to dark yellow-green and a small amount of floating black material were observed around Niijima.
The area around the Niijima pyroclastic cone is warmer than other parts.

White fumaroles were observed emitted from a vent in the southern part of the island. A pool of warm, pale blue-green water was observed near the vent. No pools of hot water were observed at vent A.
White fumaroles were observed at one location on the coast, in the northern part of Riiwa.
Among the three vents in the western part of Kitanohana, pools of discolored water were observed in one hole, brownish-brown and yellow-green and light green in the other, and the last one was almost full.
A small amount of floating dark matter believed to come from Niijima has been observed in the waters around Mount Suribachi.
Discolored water ranging from brown to green was observed in a large area around Iwo Jima.

Hawaii , Kilauea :

Sunday, November 26, 2023, 8:35 AM HST (Sunday, November 26, 2023, 18:35 UTC)

19°25’16 » N 155°17’13 » W,
Summit Elevation 4091 ft (1247 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

Activity Summary:
Kīlauea volcano is not erupting. Moderate levels of seismicity continue in the Southwest Rift Zone, summit, and upper East Rift Zone. Unrest may continue to wax and wane with changes to the input of magma into the area and eruptive activity could occur in the near future with little or no warning. No unusual activity has been noted along the middle and lower sections of Kīlauea’s East Rift Zone.

Summit Observations:
Summit seismicity over the past 24 hours continues with 17 events occurring, and with 21 events in the upper East Rift Zone.

The Uēkahuna summit tiltmeter, located northwest of the caldera, shows an inflationary signal of 1.2 microrads over the past 24 hours, and a break in slope at 2:24 a.m. from earthquake sloshing. The Sand Hill tiltmeter, located southwest of the caldera, shows a flat signal over the past 24 hours and also shows the same break in slope from earthquake sloshing at 2:24 a.m. Overall, the summit of Kīlauea remains at a high level of inflation, above the level reached prior to the most recent eruption in September 2023, and the highest level since the 2018 eruption.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission rates remain low. Field observations found SO2 gas emmision of 100 tonnes per day on November 17. This is the same as an observation in October 2023.

Mexico , Popocatepetl :

November 26, 11:00 a.m. (November 26, 5:00 p.m. GMT). Activity from the last 24 hours.

32 exhalations were detected, accompanied by emissions of water vapor, other volcanic gases and sometimes ash.

Additionally, high-frequency tremor segments of low to very low amplitude were recorded, for a total duration of 274 minutes.

At the time of this report, the volcano is clear with emission of water vapor and other volcanic gases, which is moving towards the northeast.

The Popocatépetl volcanic warning fire is in yellow phase 2.

The scenarios planned for this phase are:

A few small to moderate explosions
Appearance of tremors of variable amplitude
