Volcano Location: N 55 deg 58 min E 160 deg 35 min
Area: Kamchatka, Russia
Summit Elevation: 2882 m (9452.96 ft)
Volcanic Activity Summary:
The explosive eruption of the volcano Bezymianny ended. A moderate gas-steam emission of the volcano is observing at now. A lava flow is squeezed onto the lava dome slopes, sometimes this process is accompanied by ash avalanches. A rarefied ash plume from ash avalanches rises up to 2.5 km a.s.l., and continues to move west of the volcano. Paroxysmal phase of the eruption with the removal of ash up to 12 km a.s.l. started at 12:53 UTC on March 15. There was a formation of short pyroclastic flows that collapsed into the Vostochnaya and Yuzhnaya Valleys. The eruptive cloud moved north and northeast of the volcano. At present, the eruptive cloud in size about 160×320 km at an altitude of 6 km a.s.l. continues to move for 620 km northeast of the volcano.
A moderate gas-steam emission with possible some amount of ash of the volcano continues. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER, from March 07, 2022 to March 13, 2022. (issue date March 15, 2022)
SUMMARY OF STATUS OF ACTIVITY
In the light of the surveillance data, it is highlighted:
1) VOLCANOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS: During this period, normal Strombolian-type explosive activity was observed with spattering activity in the N zone. The total hourly frequency of explosions fluctuated between medium-low values (9 events/ h) and medium – high (16 events/h). The intensity of the explosions was mainly medium and low in the North crater area and low in the Center-South crater area.
2) SEISMOLOGY: The seismological parameters monitored do not show any significant variations.
3) SOIL DEFORMATIONS: The island’s soil deformation monitoring networks did not show any significant changes to report for the period under review.
4) GEOCHEMISTRY: SO2 flux at an average level
CO2 fluxes in the crater area show a downward trend. The last digits remain at high values.
The C/S value in the plume is at medium levels.
Isotope ratio of helium on high values (data from March 02, 2022). There are no recent updates
5) SATELLITE OBSERVATIONS: The thermal activity observed by satellite was at a low level.
VOLCANOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS
During the observation period, the eruptive activity of Stromboli was characterized through the analysis of images recorded by the INGV-OE surveillance cameras (altitude 190m, Punta Corvi, altitude 400m and Pizzo). The explosive activity was mainly produced by 5 (five) eruptive vents located in the North crater area and 2 (two) eruptive vents located in the Center-South crater area. All the mouths are placed inside the depression which occupies the terrace of the crater.
Sector N1 located in the area of the North crater produced explosions of variable intensity from low (less than 80 m high) to medium (less than 150 m high) emitting fine materials (ash) mixed with coarse materials (lapilli and bombs). Sector N2, with four emission points, showed medium-low intensity explosive activity (less than 120 m high) emitting coarse material with intense spattering activity during short intervals from March 10 to 12. The average frequency of explosions varied between 4 and 10 events/h.
In the Center-South zone, sectors C and S1 did not show significant explosive activity. Sector S2, with two emission points, had low intensity explosions (the products of the explosions did not exceed 80 m in height) emitting coarse materials. The frequency of explosions varied between less than 1 and 7 events/h

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER, from March 07, 2022 to March 13, 2022. (issue date March 15, 2022)
SUMMARY OF STATUS OF ACTIVITY
In the light of the surveillance data, it is highlighted:
1) VOLCANOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS: Degassing activity of the summit craters.
2) SEISMOLOGY: Absence of fracturing seismic activity with Ml >= 2.0; average amplitude of the volcanic tremor on the low level.
3) INFRASOUND: Weak infrasonic activity.
4) GROUND DEFORMATIONS: Over the past week, ground deformation monitoring networks have not recorded any significant changes.
5) GEOCHEMISTRY: SO2 flux at a medium-low level
6) SATELLITE OBSERVATIONS: Thermal activity in the summit area was at a low level after the February 21, 2022 lava fountain.
VOLCANOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS
During the week, the monitoring of the volcanic activity of Etna was carried out by analyzing the images of the network of surveillance cameras of the INGV, Etneo Observatory (INGV-OE).
The presence of cloud cover for most of the week made observations inconsistent.
During the observation period, activity consisted of the usual variable degassing activity at summit craters, particularly at Bocca Nuova (BN) crater, where degassing was continuous.
VOLCANIC TREMOR:
The average amplitude of the volcanic tremor remained at a low level throughout the week, showing a slightly upward trend. In particular, the locations of the sources of the tremor are concentrated in the area of the central craters in a depth range mainly between 1.8 and 3 km above mean sea level.

Colombia , Nevado del Ruiz :
Bulletin of activity level of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano.
The activity level continues at Yellow Activity Level or (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.
Regarding the monitoring of the activity of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, the COLOMBIAN GEOLOGICAL SERVICE reports that:
Seismicity related to fluid dynamics within volcanic conduits increased slightly in the number of earthquakes and maintained similar levels in seismic energy released, compared to those recorded the previous week. This seismic activity was characterized by the appearance of continuous volcanic tremors, sliding type tremors, tremor pulses, some with pulsatile type characteristics, long and very long period type earthquakes. In general, these signals exhibited moderate to low energy levels, variable spectral content, and were located primarily within Arenas Crater. Thanks to the cameras installed in the area of the volcano and the report of the officials of the National Natural Park of Los Nevados, the gas and ash emissions associated with some of these signals have been confirmed. Likewise, thanks to the FLIR cameras of the volcanic monitoring network, changes in the relative temperature of the emitted material have been observed.
The seismicity generated by the fracturing of the rocks showed a slight decrease in the number of earthquakes and an increase in the seismic energy released, compared to the previous week. This seismic activity was located mainly in the South-South-West and North-East sectors of the volcano and in the Arenas crater.
The depth of the earthquakes varied between 0.8 and 7.5 km. The maximum magnitude recorded during the week was 2.0 ML (Local Magnitude), corresponding to the earthquake recorded on March 13 at 04:14 (local time), located 3.0 km south-southwest of the Arenas crater, at a depth of 3.8 km.
During the week, there were 24 episodes of « drumbeat » type seismicity of low energy level and of short to moderate duration, which were recorded on March 08, 09, 10, 11 and 13. Of these
thirteen episodes were associated with rock fracturing, nine with fluid dynamics and two were of the hybrid type. The most notable episode was the one which occurred on March 9 at 12:11 p.m. (local time), for having presented the highest energy level drumbeat type earthquakes recorded so far on the volcano. This type of activity has been linked to the processes of ascent, emplacement-growth and evolution of a lava dome at the bottom of Arenas crater.

Guatemala , Santiaguito :
Atmospheric conditions: Clear weather
Wind: North-East
Precipitation: 0.0 mm.
Activity:
The Santiaguito volcano observatory reports a white degassing 800 meters above the crater which extends to the west and southwest. At night, an incandescence was observed in the crater of the Caliente dome and in the lava flows in the west and southwest direction. Weak avalanches of blocks and ash continue to be recorded on the western and southwestern flanks, these avalanches reaching the base of the Caliente dome. The volcano maintains high activity due to blocky lava extrusion in the Caliente dome, with a west-southwest direction and unstable material in the crater. There is a likelihood of moderate to strong pyroclastic flows, so do not stay near or in riverbeds near the slopes of the volcano. The recommendations of BESAN bulletin n° 003-2022 are still valid.
