New fissures near the eruption site in Geldingadalur
Updated 05.04 at 14:15
A new additional fissure opened at 12:00 hrs today near the initial eruption site in Geldingadalir. First estimates of the length of the fissure is ca. 200 meters, and the middle of the fissure is approximately 1 kilometer NE of the eruption site in Geldingadalir. The lava from the new fissure flows toward Meradalir valley, east of the new fissure.
Helicopters from the Icelandic Coast Guard are at the new eruption site to make sure the area is evacuated. An airplain with scientists is on its way to the fissure for evaluating more presicely the location and the size of the new fissure.
Because of the lack of ash and tephra emission in the atmosphere, the aviation color code for Keflavik airport remains orange as there are no imminent hazard for the aviation.

Photos of two new volcanic fissures near to the initial eruption site in Geldingadalir, located approximately 700 meters NE of the craters in Geldingadalir. The new fissures are in total 200 meters long. The lava from the fissures is non viscous and flows fast in a narrow lava-river into Meradalir valley, east of the new fissures, where a new lava field is forming.

Italy / Sicily , Etna :
Press release on ETNA activity, April 06, 2021 at 5:34 am (03:34 UTC).
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Osservatorio Etneo, announces that a thermal anomaly was produced by the landslide of a small part of the fracture that formed on the southern flank of the South Crater cone. Is during the last climax of April 1. The landslide exposed still hot material from the top layers of the cone, which gradually cooled. For the moment, no eruptive activity is observed from the other summit craters.
From the seismic point of view, the volcanic tremor showed a sudden increase from 00:40 UTC and reached its maximum at 01:20 UTC still in the average values. The location of the center of gravity of its sources is currently located in the area between Voragine and Bocca Nuova at a depth of about 1500-2300 meters above mean sea level.
Regarding infrasonic activity, it is low and has not recorded any significant variation in the number and amplitude of infrasonic events; the sources are mainly located in the area of the Northeast Crater.
Further updates will be communicated shortly.

Summit Elevation: 7872 FT (2460 M)
Summary of volcanic activity:
Eruption with volcanic ash cloud at 00:04 UTC (07:04 local)
Height of the volcanic cloud:
The best estimate of the ash cloud top is around 10112 FT (3160 M) above sea level, which may be higher than what can be seen clearly. Source of altitude data: ground observer.
Other information about the volcanic cloud:
Ash cloud moving east – southeast
Notes:
Seismic activity is characterized by an eruption.
The activity level has been at level III (SIAGA) since May 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. WIB. Mount Api Sinabung (2460 m above sea level) has been erupting since 2013. The last eruption occurred on April 4, 2021 with a maximum column height of 2000 meters above the summit.
The volcano was clearly visible until it was covered in fog. The crater emits white smoke with strong intensity, about 200-500 meters above the summit. The weather is sunny to cloudy, with light to moderate winds to the east and southeast. There was an eruption / explosion, with the height of the eruption column at 700 m above the summit and a gray column.
According to the seismographs of April 05, 2021, it was recorded:
1 eruption / emission earthquake
72 avalanche earthquakes
12 emission earthquakes
25 hybrid / multi-phase earthquakes
1 deep volcanic earthquake
5 local tectonic earthquakes
2 distant tectonic earthquakes

Special Report on Volcanic Activity (REAV)
Region of Ñuble, volcanic complex of Nevados de Chillán
05 April 2021, 3:00 p.m. local time (Continental Chile)
The National Service of Geology and Mines of Chile (Sernageomin) publishes the following PRELIMINARY information, obtained thanks to the monitoring equipment of the National Volcanic Monitoring Network (RNVV), processed and analyzed in the Volcanological Observatory of the Southern Andes ( Ovdas):
Yesterday, Monday 05 April at 14:22 local time (18:22 UTC), the monitoring stations installed near the volcanic complex of Nevados de Chillán recorded an earthquake associated with the dynamics of fluids inside the volcanic system (long period ).
The characteristics of the earthquake after its analysis are as follows:
ORIGINAL TIME: 14:22 local time (18:22 UTC)
LATITUDE: 36.865 ° S
LENGTH: 71.366 ° W
DEPTH: 1.7 km
REDUCED DISPLACEMENT: 514 (cm * cm
OBSERVATIONS:
At the time of the occurrence, a small column 80 meters high loaded with ash was observed, which dispersed in a southwest direction.
After the long period type event, a seismic swarm of 29 events associated with rock fracturing (Volcano-Tectonics) was recorded, where the event with the greatest energy was located 3.0 km to the West of the active crater with a depth of 3.8 km and a local magnitude of M2.2. At the time of publication of this report, no more significant seismic activity has been recorded.
The volcanic technical alert remains at the Yellow level.
