Tremor continu d’amplitude 1 – 20 mm, valeur dominante 13 mm

Recommandation:

BULLETIN D’ACTIVITE DU VOLCAN TAAL , 28 juin 2019 , 8h00 .

VOLCANIC ACTIVITY COMMUNICATION of June 26 , 2019, 00:17:06 (UTC) – STROMBOLI.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Osservatorio Etneo, reports that a major explosion has occurred at Stromboli.
At 23.03.09 GMT a major explosion (https://ingvvulcani.wordpress.com/…/stromboli-e-le-sue-esp…/) occurred, involving the central-southern area of the terrace of the Stromboli craters. Video recorded by the surveillance cameras show pyroclastic material has fallen onto the Sciara del Fuoco and inside the crater terrace with blocks that have even surpassed its edge. The seismic signal associated with the event lasted about 4 minutes.

After this major explosion, no further major explosive events were observed. The seismic tracing returned to the levels prior to the explosion, and a normal Strombolian activity is visible from the surveillance cameras.

El Salvador , San Miguel ( Chaparrastique ) :

Special file 1 Evolution of the activity of the Chaparrastique volcano.

The periodic presence of micro-earthquakes, combined with an increase in seismic vibrations and the outgassing of the Chaparrastique volcano, shows a significant increase in activity since June 10 of this year. The signals obtained from the network of seismic stations monitoring the volcano recorded several periods of seismic vibration with amplitudes of up to 141 RSAM units per hour.
In the last few hours, the seismic vibration of the San Miguel volcano has fluctuated between 71 and 141 RSAM average hourly units. These are prolonged seismic signals related to changes in fluid pressure in the volcanic building, indicators of a clogged channel and greater activity of the Chaparrastique volcano.

Evolution of the internal pressure of the volcano since Monday, June 10, 2019

Analysis of the results obtained:
From the data analysis, it can be concluded that the magmatic reservoir of the San Miguel volcano often undergoes new magma injections, which contribute to the formation of gases in the system, generating an increase in seismicity and degassing.
Therefore, the volcano may have periods of more intense activity with emissions of gas and ash. If this episode occurs, the material will be transported to the south and west flanks of the crater.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) continues the systematic monitoring of the volcano and maintains close communication with the Directorate General of Civil Protection and local observers.
In addition, he calls on the general population to stay away from the upper part of the volcano, as sudden changes in behavior often occur.
If the activity does not evolve, the next report will be published Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Sequence of earthquakes in La Soufrière area of Guadeloupe – Basse Terre

A sequence of volcanic earthquakes began on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 20h local time (Sunday, June 23, 00:00 universal time TU *) in the La Soufrière volcano area. As of June 24, 2019, at 09:50 local time, the OVSG-IPGP networks recorded 109 earthquakes of very small magnitude (M <1). No earthquakes were reported felt . The events are located at a depth of <2.5 km under the summit of the dome of La Soufrière.

The alert level remains: yellow, vigilance.

Chile , Planchon Peteroa :

During this period, 17 seismic events were recorded that were classified as volcano-tectonic (VT) types associated with rock fracturing processes. The largest energy event had a local magnitude of 1.6, located 3.7 km north of the active crater and 6.8 km deep.
In addition, 119 long-lived (LP) earthquakes related to fluid dynamics within the volcanic system were recorded. The largest of them had a reduced displacement value (DRC) of 8.7 cm2. The locations were concentrated near the crater area, at variable depths less than 3 Km.

The frequency of the tremor type seismic signal maintains its highest potential around 3.0 to 4.0 Hz, with approximate reduced displacement values (DRc) at 1.0 cm 2.

The images provided by the IP camera show constant degassing throughout the evaluated period. It stands out the occurrence of a small pulse of particulate material recorded on June 3 with a maximum height of 600m above the active crater. Otherwise, degassing is characterized by a predominantly white coloration, reaching heights no greater than 600 m above the active crater.

From the data obtained by three (3) GNSS stations, which measure the deformation in the volcanic complex, one observes for this period of minimal deformation values of the stations installed on the volcanic complex. However, we do not observe deformation of the volcanic building.

No anomalies in sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions have been reported, according to data obtained by the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (IMO).
There have been no reports of thermal warnings in the area associated with the volcanic complex, according to data published by Middle Observation InfraRed of Volcanic Activity (Mirova) on its website (http://www.mirovaweb.it/ ).

The monitoring parameters suggest a tendency towards stability of superficial volcanic activity, with constant degassing with a discrete supply of fine particulate matter, thus maintaining the characteristics of a weak phreatomatic eruption. Volcanic activity suggests the presence of a magmatic body that comes into contact with the hydrothermal system. Considering the characteristics present on the volcanic complex, we can not rule out the generation of new ash emissions of greater or equal intensity as previously recorded.

As a result, the volcanic alert is maintained at the level:
YELLOW LEVEL: Changes in the behavior of volcanic activity – Probable time for an eruption: WEEKS / MONTH.

Observations: The current area of assignment is considered to be within 1,000 meters of the area of active craters.

Colombia , Nevado del Huila :

Weekly activity bulletin of the Nevado del Huila volcano
The level of activity of the volcano continues at the level: yellow activity level or (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.

Based on the analysis and evaluation of the information obtained through the monitoring network of the Nevado del Huila volcano, from 18 to 24 June 2019, the COLOMBIAN GEOLOGICAL SERVICE – Volayological and Volcanic Observatory of Popayán indicates that:

During the evaluated period, 102 seismic events were recorded, of which 63 were related to rock fracturing processes (type VT) and 39 to fluid dynamics in volcanic canals. Of these, 35 were classified as long-period (LP type), one (1) hybrid (HB type) and three (3) events as low energy tremor pulses (TR type).

Most of the localized earthquakes, associated with fracture processes, continue to be located northeast of the volcanic building, at a distance from the central peak between 13 and 19 km, with depths between 7 and 13 km.

 The images obtained during the week by the web cameras of Caloto, Tafxnú, Maravillas and La Palma showed a weak degassing of the volcanic system.
 On 18 June, a mobile measurement of SO2 emissions was carried out between the cities of Tunia (Cauca) and Jamundí (Valle del Cauca). The calculated flow was 1298 t / day, dispersed to the north-west side of the Nevado del Huila volcano.

Sensors for monitoring soil deformation, magnetic fields and infrasound waves have not recorded any variations associated with changes in volcanic activity.

It is repeated that, although the VT seismicity located to the northeast of the Nevado del Huila volcano is in its zone of influence, these events are generated in a tectonically active zone and have so far not affected other volcanic monitoring parameters, therefore, the level of activity of the volcano has not changed, which continues to Amarillo or level III.

TAAL VOLCANO BULLETIN 17 June 2019 8:00 A.M.

Taal Volcano’s seismic monitoring network recorded eleven (11) volcanic earthquakes during the 24-hour observation period. Field measurements on 13 June 2019 at the western sector of the Main Crater Lake yielded an increase in water temperature from 32.5°C to 33.8°C, a decrease in water level from 0.15 meter to 0.11 meter and a decrease in acidity from a pH of 2.70 to 2.80. Ground deformation measurements through precise leveling surveys from 18 – 27 March 2019 indicated slight inflation of the edifice consistent with recent results from continuous GPS data.

Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano. This means that hazardous eruption is not imminent. The public, however, is reminded that the Main Crater should be strictly off-limits because sudden steam explosions may occur and high concentrations of toxic gases may accumulate. The northern portion of the Main Crater rim, in the vicinity of Daang Kastila Trail, may also become hazardous when steam emission along existing fissures suddenly increases. Furthermore, the public is also reminded that the entire Volcano Island is a Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), and permanent settlement in the island is strongly not recommended.

In May, the seismic vibrations of the San Miguel volcano remained low, fluctuating between 37 and 83 RSAM units on average per day. Only two (2) microseisms of magnitude (Ml <1) were located on the northern flank of the volcano a few meters deep. No earthquakes were perceived by the population living in the area.
For sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions, they fluctuated between 22 and 331 tonnes per day, averaging 142 t, with a threshold of 620 t / d. Monitoring data indicate that the activity of the volcano has remained low, but it is not excluded that it suddenly changes. It is therefore suggested to mountaineers and the general population to avoid visiting the crater.

BULLETIN D’ ACTIVITE DU VOLCAN TAAL , 17 juin 2019 , 8h00 .

Italy / Sicily , Etna :

A minor eruptive activity is back in the crater of Voragine, on Etna. The first part of this video was recorded during a field visit on June 13, 2019 by Alessia Donatucci, PhD student at the University of Catania and INGV-Osservatorio Etneo. Several ash emissions are shown, coming from a vent located in the crater. At this stage, the phenomenon continues in a discontinuous manner and produces modest but visibles emissions of ashes into the atmosphere (see the second part of the video beginning after 00:50, recorded at sunset by Boris Behncke (INGV-Osservatorio Etneo ) from Tremestieri Etneo.

The Voragine has not produced any eruptive activity since the summer of 2016.
There is currently no variation in the magnitude of volcanic tremor and its source location, and no thermal anomalies have been observed.

Northeast crater (3326m.) And the big « Pit » of the inner wall of the crater of Voragine.

The eruptive activity that lasted from May 30 to the night of June 5 to 6, 2019 changed the shape of the cone of the New Crater of Southeast Etna. The thermal image shows, at the base of the cone, a minor part of the eruptive vent. In addition, the south-east flank of the cone is cut by a « dry » fracture (which did not emit lava) and ends up in a fairly hot zone, affected by intense fumarolic activity.

Mexico , Popocatepetl :

June 13, 10:00 am (June 13, 16:00 GMT)

During the past 24 hours, 87 exhalations have been identified using Popocatépetl volcano monitoring systems, accompanied by water vapor, gas and light amounts of ash. In addition, 177 minutes of tremor were recorded.
At the time of writing, due to weather conditions, it has not been possible to observe the crater of the volcano permanently.
On June 11, with the support of the federal police, an overview to estimate the conditions of the volcano crater was made. Although degassing was intense, it could be corroborated that a dome was not formed inside the inner crater, which allows it to maintain dimensions of 350 m in diameter.

The monitoring system of the Popocatepetl volcano operates 24 hours a day. CENAPRED closely monitors any event. Any changes to the monitoring parameters will be reported promptly.

CENAPRED urges NOT to approach the volcano and especially the crater, because of the risk of falling ballistic fragments and, in case of heavy rains, to move away from the bottom of the ravines because of the risk of mudslide and debris.

The Popocatepetl warning light is located at YELLOW PHASE 2.

Italie / Sicile , Etna :

The Irazu volcano’s lagoon changes color after the crater’s inner wall has slipped.

The lagoon of Irazú volcano has changed color after a landslide of the inner wall of the crater, recorded on Thursday, May 2nd.
Regularly, it has a blue-green tone, but after the event, it became more turbid.
After that, the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori) reported that the material that had fallen was in place for many years.
« It is clear that the material was loose and that it had been there for more than 50 years, then over time, consistency was lost and this type of situation is generated, » said Eliécer Duarte, of Ovsicori.

He added that the color change is due to the mixing that occurs after the fall.
« The fall caused waves in the lake, which had happened on at least two occasions, the lagoon is relatively stable and homogeneous, and when it changes, the density changes, » said the expert.

For its part, Volcanoes Sin Fronteras said that the event, recorded in the western sector of the active crater of the volcano, had also formed small islands in the lagoon.
« When the materials have fallen into the lake, a wave has formed (tsunami in a lake), even on the walls of the crater, it is possible to observe the signs, which can reach 10 meters in height.
« In addition, there is a color change in the crater walls near the lake, » the organization said.

Due to the event, the Irazú Volcano National Park is functioning normally, as the landslide is not related to volcanic activity.
In the previous December, it was the lagoon of the Poás volcano that had changed color, turning to turquoise green.
For the moment, the experts said the event was due to the fact that the volcano has two pockets of activity under the lagoon that permanently inject sulfur dioxide.

On Thursday, May 2 at 12:54 pm, part of the interior wall of Irazú volcano crater slipped, as shown by the image taken by Marco Solano. The other image shows the recording produced by the landslide recorded in the VICA seismic station located in the area.

Location: San Miguel Department
Altitude: 2130 meters above sea level.
Type of volcano: Stratovolcano
Attraction type: Strombolian – Vulcanian
Last major eruption: December 29, 2013.

The values of the seismic vibration fluctuated very nearly 50 units. The values ranged from 42 to 59 RSAM units per average day. A total of six (6) low amplitude earthquakes (M1 <1.7) were recorded and located on the northern flank of the volcano. No earthquakes were perceived by the population living in the area.

Emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) have fluctuated between 27 and 825 tonnes per day, with the threshold at 620 t / d and the average of 311 t / d. The monitoring data indicate that the activity of the volcano changes periodically and that sudden changes in its behavior with probability of gas and ash emission are not excluded.

Sorry for yesterday, internet Failure.

Japan , Asosan :

Status of volcanic activity:
On the crater of Nakadake, a very small eruption occurred on May 02 at 15:40. The vapors reached 600 m above the edge of the crater. The eruption phase began on April 19th.

According to the field survey, emissions of volcanic gas (sulfur dioxide) continue to be very high at 3,200 tonnes per day.
In the Nakadake Daiichi crater, we observed low fires with a high-sensitivity surveillance camera, on the night of 2 May until today morning.

According to the extremely sensitive camera provided by the museum of Aso volcano, in the crater Nakadake Daiichi, there is a red glow; part of the bottom of the crater is red at night.

The amplitude of the volcanic tremors has passed into a more important state.
There are many isolated earthquakes and volcanic earthquakes.

In continuous observation with GNSS stations, a slight tendency to elongation is observed at the Kusensen Baseline. A magma chamber is assumed to be located in the deep part.

As volcanic activity is increasing, it is possible that an eruption affects a distance of about 1 km around the first crater of Nakadake.

Attention, disaster prevention is paramount.

At about 1 km from the first crater of Nakadake, pay attention to the large clasts and pyroclastic flows that drag and disperse the ballistic fragments that accompany the eruption.
In the wind, know that not only volcanic ash, but also small ashes can be blown away by the wind. Also pay attention to volcanic gas.

Do not enter dangerous areas in accordance with local government instructions, etc.

El Salvador ,  Santa Ana (Ilamatepec) :

Location: shared by the departments of Santa Ana and Sonsonate
Altitude: 2381 meters above sea level.
Type of volcano: Stratovolcano
Activity type: Vulcanian – Strombolian
Last eruption: October 1, 2005.

The seismic vibration of the volcano fluctuated between 28 and 32 RSAM units on average per day, ie in the normal range. The San Blas seismic station recorded 39 earthquakes related to the movement of fluids in the volcanic system. Regarding earthquakes associated with breakage of solid material, fourteen events (14) were recorded and only 11 (eleven) were located on the northwest and southeast flanks of the volcano crater. a depth of 9 km and with a maximum magnitude of M 2.3. None were reported as felt by the inhabitants of the region.

Emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) have fluctuated between 286 and 448 tonnes per day, with an average of 354 tonnes. These values are values near the baseline (<300 tonnes / day) and typical of a volcanic system with constant gas emission. MARN’s guard resources visiting the crater do not report a change in activity. The changes recorded through the instruments and the visits made indicate that the volcano presents a normal activity like any active volcano.

Indonesia , Merapi :

Mount Merapi Activity Report from April 26 to May 2, 2019

I. RESULTS OF OBSERVATION

Visual:
The weather around Mount Merapi is usually sunny in the morning while the afternoon until the night is cloudy and foggy. There is a white smoke of degassing, thin to thick with low pressure. The maximum smoke height of 150 m was observed from the Mount Merapi observation post in Kaliurang on May 1, 2019 at 0514 WIB.
The morphological analysis of the crater area based on photographs of the Southeast sector revealed no significant morphological changes. The volume of the lava dome is based on an aerial photography analysis with a drone made on April 9, 2019 with 466,000 m3. Since January 2019, the volume of the lava dome has been relatively constant due to the fact that most magma extrusions flow directly into the upper parts of Kali Gendol as avalanches and hot clouds.

Within a week, there were two avalanche clouds with a maximum slip distance of 850 meters upstream from Kali Gendol.

Seismicity:
This week, the seismicity of Mount Merapi recorded:
2 earthquakes of hot clouds (AP),
24 earthquakes (DG),
1 deep volcanic earthquake (VTA),
8 shallow volcanic earthquakes (VTB),
38 multiple phase earthquakes (MP),
186 avalanche earthquakes (RF),
21 low frequency earthquakes (FL)
2 tectonic earthquakes (TT).
The intensity of tremor this week was higher than last week.

Deformation:
The deformation of Mount Merapi, monitored by EDM and GPS this week, showed no significant change.

Rain and lahars:
This week, it was raining around Mount Merapi with a rainfall intensity of 34 mm / hour for 195 minutes, measured at the Mount Merapi observation post in Babadan on April 28, 2019. No cases of lahars were reported. or additional flows in rivers originating from G Merapi.

II. CONCLUSION AND ADVICE
Conclusion
Based on the results of the visual and instrumental observations, it was concluded that:
1. The lava dome is currently in a stable state with a relatively low growth rate.
2. The volcanic activity of Mount Merapi is still quite high and is at the activity level « WASPADA ».

Mexico , Fuego de Colima :

Weekly technical bulletin on the activity of the Colima volcano
Date: 03-May-2019 Newsletter n ° 119

Seismic activity:
Last week, 324 high-frequency (HF) events, 8 long-period (LP) events, 5 landslides and 35.7 min of low-amplitude tremors were automatically recorded. On the April 26 seismogram at the SOMA station located 1.7 km from the crater of the volcano, there has been a considerable increase in earthquakes of high frequency (HF) or volcano-tectonic (VT) type. The largest events have been located, many of them have a depth of between 3,000 and 500 meters in the northern and northeastern parts of the volcanic building. Their magnitudes are between 2.4 and 3 Mc.

Visual observations:
During the period under review, steam and gas emissions were observed only in the eastern part of the crater. A flight with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was also carried out in the crater of the volcano on April 30th. No morphological changes were observed inside the crater compared to the last flight. The thermal camera recorded no anomalies related to possible changes in the external volcanic activity.

Geochemistry:
No measurements of SO2 flow during the week were made.

Remote perception:
No thermal anomalies detected by the MIROVA satellite system were observed during the last week.

Diagnostic:
Last week, the volcano continued with moderate internal seismic activity, without this resulting in an increase in surface volcanic activity. This had been observed in previous years before explosions and / or the growth of a new dome. The staff in charge of monitoring the volcano is attentive to possible changes and changes in activity.

Possible scenarios from days to weeks:
1. Moderate explosion and / or series of explosions.
2. There is new growth of lava dome at the top with collapses of incandescent material and lava flows.

Philippines , Bulusan :

BULUSAN VOLCANO BULLETIN 05 May 2019 11:10 A.M.

This serves as a notice for the raising of Bulusan Volcano’s status from Alert Level 0 (normal) to Alert Level 1 (abnormal).

From 4 May 2019 to 5 May 2019, there was an increase in seismic activity of Bulusan Volcano. A total of sixteen (16) volcanic earthquakes were recorded by the Bulusan Volcano seismic monitoring network. Tilt data from 29 April 2019 to 5 May 2019 indicated slight inflation of the upper slopes. There is also a notable increase in water temperature of the monitored hot springs while wispy to weak emission of white steam plumes was observed from the southeast vents.

In view of the above activities, PHIVOLCS is now raising the Alert Level status of Bulusan Volcano from Alert Level 0 to Alert Level 1 (abnormal). This indicates that hydrothermal processes may be underway beneath the volcano that may lead to steam-driven eruptions. The local government units and the public are reminded that entry into the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) should be avoided. Vigilance in the Extended Danger Zone (EDZ) on the southern slopes of Bulusan Volcano stretching two kilometers further downslope of the PDZ must be exercised due to the possibilities of sudden and hazardous phreatic eruptions, rockfall, and landslide. Civil aviation authorities must also advise pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano’s summit as ash from any sudden phreatic eruption can be hazardous to aircraft. Furthermore, people living within valleys and along river/stream channels should be vigilant against sediment-laden stream flows and lahars in the event of heavy and prolonged rainfall.

DOST-PHIVOLCS is closely monitoring Bulusan Volcano’s condition and any new development will be relayed to all concerned.
