Etna Activity Report, 10 November 2024, 11:47 (10:47 UTC) .

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Osservatorio Etneo, reports that at present the view of the volcanic building through the surveillance camera network is totally obstructed due to cloud cover. The forecast model for the dispersion of the possible eruptive cloud indicates a South-East direction. Starting from 09:40 UTC, the volcanic tremor shows a rapid increase in its amplitude to reach high values. The location of the average source of the tremor corresponds to the Bocca Nuova crater. At the same time, a similar trend of infrasound tremor is recorded with explosive events located at the Bocca Nuova crater. From 08:40 UTC, variations were recorded on the inclinometric signals with a maximum of about 1.5 microradians recorded at the Pizzi dei Neri station (PDN). The GNSS network signals do not show significant variations.

Etna Activity Report, 10 November 2024, 12:42 (11:42 UTC) .

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Osservatorio Etneo, reports that ash falls have been reported on the city of Milo and Torre Archirafi since 10:45 UTC. At the moment, the view of the volcanic building through the surveillance camera network is completely obstructed due to cloud cover. After reaching the maximum amplitude value at 10:10 UTC, the volcanic tremor has started to decrease. The average locations remain in correspondence with the Bocca Nuova crater at an altitude of about 3000 meters.
The infrasound tremor also reached its maximum at 10:10 UTC and then decreased sharply. The infrasound events are located in correspondence with the Bocca Nuova crater.
As of 08:40 UTC, a cumulative variation of about 30 nano-deformations is recorded at the Monte Ruvolo dilatometer (DRUV). The GNSS network data do not show significant variations.

Further updates will be communicated shortly.

Indonesia , Rokatenda :

Increase in the activity level of Mount Rokatenda from Level I (normal) to Level II (WASPADA).

The assessment report on the activity of Rokatenda Volcano – East Nusa Tenggara Province is hereby submitted as follows:

Visual observation
Visual observations of Mount Rokatenda between 1 October 2024 and 10 November 2024 generally show the volcano clearly until it is covered by mist. No crater smoke has been observed. The weather is sunny to rainy, with light to moderate winds from the north, northeast and south.

Instrumental observation
The earthquakes recorded between 1 October and 10 November 2024 are 24 shallow volcanic earthquakes, 30 deep volcanic earthquakes, 23 local tectonic earthquakes and 20 deep tectonic earthquakes.

Assessment
Visual observations during the period August 2024 showed that no crater smoke was observed.
According to some reports, the public smelled a fairly strong sulphur odour on 9 November 2024, from 9:00 to 17:00.
Instrumental monitoring recorded in seismic shows an increase in shallow volcanic earthquakes between 1 and 8 November 2024.

Recommendation
Based on the results of the analysis of visual and instrumental data during this period and the potential threat of hazard, the activity level of Mount Rokatenda has been increased from level I (normal) to level II (WASPADA) on 10 November 2024 at 21:00 WITA.

Chile , Laguna del Maule :

Seismology
The seismological activity of the period was characterized by the recording of:
2303 VT type seismic events, associated with rock fracturing (Volcano-Tectonic). The most energetic earthquake had a Local Magnitude (ML) value equal to 4.5, located 4.3 km to the South-Southeast and with a depth of 7.9 km from the center of the lagoon.
12 LP type seismic events, associated with fluid dynamics inside the volcanic system (Long Period). The size of the largest earthquake evaluated from the Reduced Displacement (DR) parameter was equal to 2.8 cm2.
1 TR type seismic event, associated with the dynamics maintained over time of fluids inside the volcanic system (TRemor). The earthquake size estimated from the Reduced Displacement (DR) parameter was equal to 0.7 cm2.

Fluid Geochemistry
No anomalies were reported in sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions into the atmosphere in the area near the volcanic complex, according to data published by Tropopheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) and Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) Sulfur Dioxide Group.

Satellite thermal anomalies
During the period, no thermal alerts were recorded in the area associated with the volcanic complex, according to the analytical processing of Sentinel 2-L2A satellite images, in combination with false-color bands.

Geodesy
The data provided by the geodetic monitoring network, composed of 5 GNSS stations, indicate that the swelling process of the volcanic complex is continuing. The vertical displacements have generally shown a decrease in the relative growth rate.

Surveillance cameras
The images provided by the fixed camera, installed near the complex, have not recorded degassing columns or variations related to surface activity.

The activity has remained at levels considered low, suggesting stability of the volcanic system. The volcanic technical alert is maintained at:
GREEN TECHNICAL ALERT: Active volcano with stable behavior – There is no immediate risk

Observation:
The area concerned is considered to be that contained within a radius of 2 km around the passive CO2 degassing zone.

Ecuador , El Reventador :

DAILY STATE REPORT OF THE REVENTADOR VOLCANO , Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Information Geophysical Institute – EPN.

Surface Activity Level: High , Surface Trend: No Change
Internal Activity Level: Moderate , Internal Trend: No Change

From November 09, 2024, 11:00h to November 10, 2024, 11:00h:

Seismicity:
The count of seismic events recorded at the station is detailed below.

Explosion (EXP) 84
Long Period (LP) 3
Emission Tremor (TREMI) 8
Harmonic Tremor (TRARM) 2

Rainfall / Lahars:
Yesterday afternoon and today morning, rain was recorded in the area of the volcano without generating mud or debris flows. **Heavy rains could remobilize the accumulated materials, generating mud and debris flows that would descend the sides of the volcano and flow into adjacent rivers**.

Emissions / Ash Column:
The weather conditions did not allow the observation of ash emissions through the surveillance camera system. In addition, the VAAC agency in Washington has not published activity reports for this volcano.

Other monitoring parameters:
The MIROVA-MODIS satellite system recorded 1 thermal anomaly and the MIROVAVIIRS satellite system recorded 1 thermal anomaly, in the last 24 hours.

Observation:
During the night of yesterday and early today, several episodes of descent of incandescent material up to 900 meters below the level of the crater were observed thanks to surveillance cameras. At the end of this report, the volcano remains completely cloudy

Alert level: Orange
