Dukono , Indonesia :

Activity Level of Level II (WASPADA). The Dukono (1229 m above sea level) has a continuous eruption. Since yesterday until this morning, visually, the volcano is generally covered with fog. When the weather is clear, smoke rising from the crater can reach 300 to 700 m and eruption columns reach 700 m above the summit. The wind is blowing from the south.

Through the seismographs, dated December 28, 2017, it was recorded:
Continuous tremors associated with ash emissions with an amplitude of 0.5 to 8 mm (with a dominant value of 2 mm).
2 earthquakes of eruption.
3 Far Tectonic Earthquakes
No explosion sounds were heard from the Dukono Post, which is 10 km north of the peak.

Recommendations:
Communities around G. Dukono and visitors / tourists should avoid activities, climbing and approaching the Malupang Warirang Crater within a radius of 2 km.

Volcanic Activity Summary:
Eruption with ash clouds at 23:11 UTC (06:11 local time). The eruption lasted for 435 seconds.

Volcanic Cloud Height:
Best estimate of ash-cloud top is around 20672 FT (6460 M) above sea level, may be higher than what can be observed clearly. Source of height data: ground observer.

Ash-cloud moving to east.

Remarks:
Seismic activity is characterized by the Deep Volcanic Earthquake, Low Frequency Earthquake, and Hybrid Earthquake. Rock avalanche (Incandescent lava) is not identified.

Activity Level of Level IV (AWAS). The Sinabung (2460 m altitude) since yesterday until this morning was often covered with fog. The smoke rising from the crater, during the periods when the volcano was discovered, could be observed rising from 100 to 400 m above the volcano. The wind is blowing moderately towards the East-South-East. Thanks to the recording of the seismographs, 3 eruption / emission events have been recorded. An eruption occurred at 19:25, with a high column of ash lost in the fog, and avalanches of hot clouds descending from 3500 m to the East-South-East and 2000 m to the South. Other eruptions occurred at 19:35 and 19:42, with a column of ash that could not be observed due to fog. Finally, 62 avalanche events with slip distances of 800 to 1500 m were recorded on the South-South-East slopes.

Communities / visitors should not do activities within 3 km of the summit, and by sector, 7 km to the South-South-East, 6 km East-South-East and 4 km to the South-East. km northeast.
The deposits formed a dam upstream on the Laborus River. People living in downstream river basins and around the Laborus River need to be vigilant because these dams can collapse at any time and no longer retain water volume, resulting in downstream lahars / floods .

The level of activity of the volcano continues at the level:
Level of activity yellow or (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.

From the analysis and evaluation of the information obtained by the surveillance network of the Nevado del Huila volcano, during the week of December 19 to 25, 2017, the Colombian Geological Service – Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Popayán reports that:

During the evaluated period, 445 seismic events were recorded, of which 266 were related to rock fracturing processes (type VT) and 179 to fluid dynamics in volcanic canals. Of these, 177 were classified as long-period type events (LP type), one as (1) low magnitude tremor pulse (TR type) and one (1) as hybrid event (HB type).

From the images obtained during the week through the web cameras of Caloto, Tafxnú, Maravillas and La Palma, we observed the degassing of the volcanic system, characterized by white columns emitted from the top of the volcano.

Sensors for the monitoring of soil deformation, magnetic fields and infrasonic waves have not recorded any variations to highlight.

Therefore, it is concluded that during the evaluated period, the volcano continued to exhibit stable behavior.
The Colombian Geological Survey is attentive to the evolution of the volcanic phenomenon and will inform in a timely manner about any changes that may occur.
