VOLCAN VILLARRICA – SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY of the month of SEPTEMBER.
Recognitions of the summit were made on September 12, 16, 17 and 26. The visibility of the summit, from Pucón, was limited for 15 days of the month.
The most remarkable volcanic activity of the month took place on September 16, a few hours before the arrival of more than 150 people at the summit [Avalanche in the Volcano 2017 and adventure tourists]. At 08:39 a particle emission was projected from the bottom of the crater, reaching 250 meters in height, depositing a thin layer of ash on the upper Northwest and Northeast flanks, clearly visible from Pucón.
Chronological sequence of transmission, every 10 seconds. Comparison of the volcanic building seen from Pucón on 15 and 16 September. In the image on the right, which is darker, stands the surface of about 20 000 m2 on which the pyroclastic material has been precipitated.
On September 26th, through photographic interpretation, a depth of about 105 meters and a diameter of about 55 meters was determined for the bottom of the crater. The central active hole had a diameter of about 6 meters.

Fuego , Guatemala :
Attraction type: Vulcanian
Morphology: Stratovolcan composite
Geographical location: 14 ° 28’54˝ Latitude N; 90 ° 52’54˝ West Longitude
Weather conditions: Clear
Winds: WNW at 5 km / h
Precipitation: 48.2 mm
A small white fumarole is observed, rising to approximately 4,400 m (14,435 feet), spreading westward. 42 explosions were observed, 25 of which were low and 17 were moderate. The columns of gray ash rise to an altitude of approximately 4,500 m (14,763 feet) and extend southwest for a distance of approximately 17 km. Explosions generate moderate rumblings with shock waves. The incandescent pulses emanating from the crater have a height of about 250 meters and generate moderate avalanches on its edges.

Popocatépetl , Mexico :
15 October, 11.00 (15 October, 16.00 GMT)
Over the past 24 hours, through the seismic monitoring systems of the Popocatépetl volcano, 51 low intensity exhalations accompanied by water vapor and gas have been identified. In addition, two volcano – tectonic earthquakes were recorded yesterday at 12.30 with a magnitude of M1.8 and at 16.07 with a magnitude of M1.7.
During the night, an incandescence was observed on the crater which increased at the time of certain exhalations.
From today morning until the time of this report was observed a continuous emission of water vapor and gas.
CENAPRED asks not to come on the volcano and especially near the crater due to the risk of falling ballistic fragments, and in case of heavy rain, to leave the bottom of the ravines due to the risk of mudslides and landslides ground.
The volcanic alert semaphore of the Popocatépetl volcano is located in the Amarillo phase 2.

Agung , Indonesia :
Level 4 activity level (AWAS). The seismic activity of the Agung (3142 m altitude) remains high and fluctuates. From yesterday to today visually volcano is clearly visible until the arrival of the mist. The crater emits a white, thick, low-pressure smoke that reaches a height of about 200 m above the peak. The highest smoke of about 1500 m above the peak occurred on 20 October 2017 at 2030 hours.
Through the seismographic recordings, it was recorded:
– 14 October 2017: Six non-harmonic Tremor events, 283 shallow volcanic earthquakes (VB), 764 deep volcanic earthquakes (VA), 89 local tectonic earthquake (TL), 6 of which were (MMI I-III).
– October 15, 2017: 270 shallow volcanic earthquakes (VB), 474 deep volcanic earthquakes (VA), 44 local tectonic (TL) earthquakes not felt.
– On 16 October 2017 (from 00:00 to 18:00), 50 shallow volcanic earthquakes (108), 108 volcanic earthquakes (VA), 9 local tectonic earthquakes (TL), not felt.
Recommendation: Communities around G. Agung and climbers / visitors / tourists should not climb or engage in any activity in the hazardous area around the G. Agung crater within a 9 km radius, with a sectoral extension to the North-North-East, South-East and South-South-West for 12 km.
VONA: Last color code ORANGE, published on 07 October 2017 at 22h30, constant smoke emission associated with steam, thick, low pressure, at a height of 4642 mdpl or 1500 m above the peak. The eruption and ash material was not observed.
