Shinmoedake , Japan :
Mount Shinmoedake spews to life Oct. 11.
Kyushu’s Mount Shinmoedake blew its stack for the first time in six years early Oct. 11, sending a plume of ash 300 meters into the air.
The eruption, although minor, followed the Japan Meteorological Agency’s decision Oct. 5 to raise the volcano’s activity alert to Level 2, warning climbers to stay away from the crater.
The level was raised again Oct. 11 to Level 3, warning people to stay away from the mountain. It was the first such warning since October 2013 amid fears of a larger eruption that could hurl large cinders two kilometers from the crater.
No flying cinders were evident this time around.
The volcano, part of the Kirishima range in southern Kyushu, straddles the border of Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures. It previously erupted Sept. 7, 2011.

Nevado del Ruiz , Colombia :
Subject: Activity report of the volcano Nevado del Ruiz.
The level of activity continues at: Activity level yellow or (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.
Regarding the monitoring of the activity of the volcano Nevado del Ruiz, the COLOMBIAN GEOLOGICAL SERVICE reports that:
During the last week, the various monitoring parameters show that the Nevado del Ruiz volcano continues to exhibit unstable behavior.
The seismicity caused by the fracturing of the rocks of the volcano, maintained levels similar to those recorded the previous week. The earthquakes were located mainly in the distal northern sector approximately 7.1 km from the Arenas crater and, to a lesser extent, in the southern and southeastern sectors and near the Arenas crater. The depths of the earthquakes varied from 0.8 to 6.2 km. The maximum magnitude recorded during the week was 2.4 ML (local magnitude), corresponding to two earthquakes, recorded on October 03 at 10:18 (local time).
It is important to mention that on October 9, a short episode of drumbeat-type events appeared, which was recorded for 8 minutes. These signals are related to the rise of domes towards the surface. (A lava dome is a lava mound (Viscous Rock) that is placed on the volcano emission conduit. The growth rate of domes can vary from a few hours to days, years or hundreds of times, years, and these can reach volumes ranging from a few tens of meters to several cubic kilometers). In general, these earthquakes were of low energy.
The seismic activity associated with fluid dynamics in the structure of volcanic ducts showed an increase in the number of recorded earthquakes and the seismic energy released compared to the previous week. This type of activity was mainly characterized by the appearance of multiple earthquakes of fluids, of the long period and very long periods type, as well as tremor pulses. These earthquakes were mainly located in the Arenas crater, in the south-east sector and to a lesser extent in the south-west sector of the volcano.
Volcanic deformation, measured from electronic inclinometers, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and satellite images to determine changes in tilt, position and shape of the volcano, continues to record some changes .
The volcano continues to emit atmospheric steam and gases, including sulfur dioxide (SO2), as shown by the values obtained by the SCANDOAS stations installed in the volcano zone and the analysis of a » satellite images. In the follow-up information provided by the NASA and FIRMS Mirova portals, an alert associated with a thermal anomaly was noted on 03 October at 01:35 (local time) with an energy of 1MW in the Arenas crater.
The gas and steam column reached a maximum height of 900 m measured on the top of the volcano on 03 October. The direction of dispersal of the column was governed by the direction of the wind in the zone which during this period was predominant towards the northwest of the Arenas crater.
The Nevado del Ruiz volcano continues at Yellow level.

Reventador , Ecuador :
Reventador Volcano Activity Report No. 283, Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
SUMMARY OF THE VOLCAN ACTIVITY
The volcano maintains high eruptive activity.
TECHNICAL APPENDIX AND COMMENTS.
Seismicity: From 11h00 (TL) yesterday until 11h00 (TL) today 2 episodes of tremor harmonique (TRA), 4 episodes of tremor of emission (ERT), 50 events of type long period (LP) and 27 explosions were recorded (EXP).
Observations, Emissions and Ashes: Last night until this morning several steam and ash emissions were observed. These emissions exceeded 1000 meters above the summit and dissipated to the north and northwest. Emissions of incandescent matter were observed in the crater, which descended on the northeast flank up to 600 meters below the crater. At this moment, the volcano is cloudy.
Rains and lahars: There were no rains in the area.
GENERAL INFORMATIONS
This daily report will be published at 12:00 (TL) and as long as the activity level of the volcano justifies it. In the event of an increase or change in the behavior of the volcano, a special report will be issued immediately.

Ambae , Vanuatu :
VMGD update on Ambae volcano activity issued on 10th October 2017 at 11:37 pm :
Observations (webcam) and seismic analysis shows ongoing explosive and incandescent activity at the summit crater Lake, (Lake Voui). Local population from neighbouring islands may hear some of the explosions and see glow over the mountain at night. The Volcano Alert Level for Ambae remains at Level 3.
