Subject: Bulletin d’activité Bulletin of the volcano Nevado del Ruiz.
The level of activity continues: at the yellow level of activity or (III): evolution of the behavior of the volcanic activity.

Regarding the monitoring of the activity of the volcano Nevado del Ruiz, COLOMBIAN GEOLOGICAL SERVICE reports that:
Over the past week, the various monitoring parameters show that the Nevado del Ruiz volcano continues to exhibit unstable behavior.
The seismicity resulting from the fracturing of the rocks composing the volcano showed a slight increase both in the number of earthquakes and in seismic energy released compared to the previous week. The earthquakes were mainly in the south-east, south-west and northeast parts of the volcanic structure, and to a lesser extent in the northern sector of the volcano and near the Arenas crater. The depths of the earthquakes varied from 1.2 to 6.7 km. The maximum magnitude recorded during the week was 1.8 ML (local magnitude), corresponding to an earthquake recorded on September 2 at 10:08 am (local time) in the Southeast sector, 2.6 km Arenas crater and at a depth of 3.6 km.

The seismic activity associated with the dynamics of the fluids inside the ducts of the volcanic structure showed similar levels, both in the number of recorded earthquakes and in the seismic energy released compared to the previous week. This type of activity was mainly characterized by the appearance of earthquakes of multiple fluids, of the long period type and very long period, as well as tremor pulses of very low level of energy.

Volcanic deformation, measured from electronic inclinometers, satellite navigation systems (GNSS) and satellite imagery, to determine changes in inclination, position and shape of the volcano, continues to record some changes.
The volcano continues to emit water vapor and gases, including sulfur dioxide (SO2), as evidenced by the values ​​obtained by the SCANDOAS stations installed in the volcano area and the analysis of the satellite images. In monitoring the information provided by the MIROVA and NASSA FIRMS portals, no thermal anomaly was identified during the week.

The gas and steam column reached a maximum height of 370 m measured at the top of the volcano on 31 August. The direction of the dispersion of the column was governed by the direction of the wind in the zone, which during the week predominated towards the West, the Northwest and the Southwest with respect to the Arenas crater.
The Nevado del Ruiz volcano continues at the level of  activity yellow.

Sinabung , Indonesia:

The level of activity of G. Sinabung is at level IV (AWAS). The volcano (2460 m altitude) since yesterday until this morning is often covered with fog. The smoke from the crater is not observed because the volcano is covered with fog. Through the recordings of the seismograph it was noted 1 (one) eruption, but the height of the eruption column is not observed. A hot avalanche was recorded, descending to 1000 m on the South-South-East flank.
Dams in the River Laborus formed by the accumulation of hot cloud deposits still have the potential to cause lahars / floods if the dam collapses.

Communities / visitors should not engage in activities within a radius of 3 km around the summit, and by sectors 7 km south-south-east, 6 km south-east and 4 km km to the east-northeast.
Since a dam was formed upstream of the Laborus River, residents living downstream of the Laborus River watershed must remain vigilant as this dam may collapse during periods of heavy rain, water and cause lahars / flooding downstream.

Altitude of the volcanic cloud:

Seismic activity is characterized by deep earthquakes, low frequency earthquakes and hybrid earthquakes. Rock avalanches (incandescent lava) are not identified.

Dukono , Indonesia :

G. Dukono is at Level of Activity 2 (WASPADA). The volcano (1229 m  ) continues its continuous eruption. From yesterday until this morning, the volcano is clearly visible and sometimes foggy. Observation shows columns of gray and white eruptions, continuous, thick and of low pressure, at moderate height of 200-500 m inclined towards the West. Large eruption columns occurred up to 184 times. There were no ash falls on the Dukono Observation Post.
Recommendation: communities around G. Dukono and visitors / tourists should not move, climb and approach the Malupang Warirang Crater within a radius of 2 km.
