Poas , Costa Rica :
Activity report of the Poas volcano, 23 April 2017 11h00.
During the last 24 hours, the volcano exhibited a strong exhalation and degassing activity in the midst of which the outlet of gases and aerosols was observed alternating with ash emissions. Seismic signals have many low – frequency (LP) earthquakes and some volcano – tectonic (VT) events plus a low to moderate tremor signal amplitude.
Yesterday afternoon, there were two eruptions, the first at 13:16 and the second at 16:03, whose heights of emission columns could not be determined due to cloud conditions. During the night, some eruptive events at 19:12, 19:14, 20:28, 08:32 and a larger eruption at 22:12, which had a very high intensity were recorded. This eruption of 22:12 launched ballistics over long distances as seen in the photos we published.
Poas Volcano. April 23, 2017. Geoffroy Avard, an OVSICORI volcanologist on the volcano, brought these photos or can be observed bombs (rocks) thrown on the road of the belvedere, still at a high temperature, the arrows indicate Scattered in the bottom of the crater. (Photos above)
Yesterday, and because of these eruptions, we reported ash falls and a smell of sulfur in Alajuela, Fraijanes, San Francisco, San Juan Norte de Poas, San Miguel, Carbonal, Cajon.
Also last night two volcano – tectonic earthquakes, these located under the volcano, the first took place at 20:28, magnitude M2,2, and the other at 08:32, magnitude M2,3 are declared , These earthquakes were felt in the community of Vara Blanca.
Remains of the tower and the web camera of the Ovsicori.
Because of this eruption 22:12, the Ovsicori had technical problems to communicate with our equipment installed on the volcano. Currently, OVSICORI staff are on site, making equipment assessments.

Sunday, April 23, 2017, SUMMARY OF VOLCAN ACTIVITY
The volcano maintains its strong activity. During the night and early morning so far the area of the volcano is covered. But one can observe between the clouds a glimmer in the crater.
TECHNICAL APPENDIX AND OBSERVATIONS
(TL) today, five episodes of tremor harmonic (TRA), 4 episodes of tremor of emission (ERT), 32 events long period (LP) and 22 explosions (EXP) Have been recorded
Observations, emissions and ash:
Most of the time, the volcano remained cloudy but in the early morning today one could observe between the clouds an incandescence in the crater. This morning an explosion took place and was observed between the clouds with blocks falling on the southern flank. Since then, the sector has remained clouded.
Rains and lahars:
No rain was reported.
The present report on a daily basis will be published at 12:00 (TL). In the case of an increase or change in the behavior of the volcano it will be immediately published a special report.

Fuego , Guatemala :
Lahars in the ravines Ceniza, SANTA TERESA, Lajas, TRINIDAD
Activity type: Vulcanian
Morphology: Stratovolcano composite
Geographical location 14 ° 28 ’54 ˝ latitude N; 90 ° 52 W. 54˝ West Longitude
Heavy rain at the top and bottom of the volcano, from 13:45, generated moderate lahars in the Ceniza, Trinidad, Las Lajas and Santa Teresa canyon . The Fuego Volcano Observatory (OVFGO) currently reports 66 millimeters of rain, observing rising steam columns in the Ceniza Gully, due to the large pyroclastic flows of the previous eruptions, so it is a hot lahar.
Lahars are also recorded in Canyon Santa Teresa, Trinidad and Las Lajas. The canyons mentioned above are dependent on the Guacalate, Achiguate and Pantaleon rivers. These lahars can damage the roads of vehicles between Siquinala and San Andrés Osuna, Rodeo a Guadalupe and others, it is necessary to take the appropriate measures.
Finally the rain can also cause problems in other canyons like Taniluya.
