Observations emissions and ashes:
During yesterday afternoon the volcano was clear, several emissions of steam and gas were observed with heights up to 200 meters above the crater towards the Northwest . During the night, the volcano was partially covered, explosions were observed in the crater. Today, the crater of the volcano became clear , a light water vapor and gas emission was observed. At the end of this bulletin the volcano is cloudy.

San Cristobal , Nicaragua :
Laura Caballero performs household duties when she notices that the sky darkened. It is the rain, she thinks. However, 20 minutes later it is a rain of ashes falling on his house, which was forced to close the doors and windows, cover food and clean clothes. It’s 10:30 when these facts came.
Caballero lives in El Pellizco, one of 15 rural communities located north of the city of Chichigalpa who were affected by the unexpected explosion of the San Cristobal volcano, and where more three thousand people are concentrated.
The population suffered ash falls for more than one hour. People were in the streets with towels and handkerchiefs, head covered, lighted traffic lights, traffic was slow and gradually began symptoms such as burning eyes and difficulty breathing.
Rosario Murillo, coordinator of the Council of Communication and Citizenship refers to the strong explosion and the registration at least 10 aftershocks of lesser intensity in the region.
« The ash and gas reached the cities. This is the first time they come to the urban area. We have some very affected areas and we are on alert.
The ash plume rose two thousand meters. This amount of material is deposited at the foot of the volcano, we are at the beginning of winter. The alarm has been decreed, but authorities say they are alert and evacuation plans ready to be implemented to protect the lives of the population.
« For now, personal protection is recommended. The authorities monitor and record the biggest explosions, we must provide assistance to the people living near the tracks, » said Jose Maria Alvarez, head of the Municipal Committee for the Prevention disaster.
The ashes have also not spared Chinandega or El Viejo, cities generally affected by emissions of ash. The rural communities of La Grecia, La Joya and Rancherias were also affected.
This also affects livestock because we are at the beginning of winter and the little grass is covered with sand.
Dust punished street vendors. For over an hour, the commerce of Chichigalpa stopped. There was no one in the streets.
Affected communities are Versalles, Apastepe, Juan José Briceño, Las Nubes, Sirama Norte and Sur, Las Brisas, Los Ebanos, Santa Cruz, Los Liros, Los tres Pellizcos, Cosmapa Santa Matilde, Cuitanca.

Nevado De Huila , Colombia :
Subject: Weekly Bulletin of volcanic activity of the volcano Nevado del Huila
The level of activity of the volcano continues at:
Yellow activity level or (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.
Analysis and evaluation of information obtained by the volcano monitoring network of the Nevado del Huila, during the week between 13 and 19 April 2016.
The Colombian Geological Service – Volcanic and Seismological Observatory of Popayan reports:
During the period, it was recorded a total of 258 seismic events, of which 99 were related to rock fracturing process (type VT) and 159 related to fluid dynamics in volcanic conduits. Of these, 153 were classified as long-period events (type LP) and seven (7) as pulses of low energy Volcanic Tremor (TR).
On April 19 a mobile flow measurement of SO2 between populations of Tunía and Mondomo was conducted, the calculated flow rate was 494 t / d in a column that was spreading westward from the volcano.
During the week, it was possible to obtain images of the webcam of Caloto, Tafxnú, Maravillas, La Palma and Verdún, in which a column of white steam was observed.
Sensors for techniques of deformation control , magnetic and acoustic sensors, recorded no changes associated with volcanic activity.
Therefore, it is concluded that during the evaluation period, the volcano continued to show stable behavior.
The Geological Survey continues Colombian be alert and report timely to the changes that may occur.

Mauna Loa is not erupting. There have been no significant changes in seismicity recorded beneath Mauna Loa during the past week. Seismicity remains elevated above the long-term background level, as shallow earthquakes continue to occur mostly beneath Mauna Loa’s upper Southwest Rift Zone at depths of less than 5 km (3 mi). Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements show continued deformation related to inflation of a magma reservoir beneath the summit and upper Southwest Rift Zone, with inflation recently occurring mainly in the southwestern part of the magma storage complex.
