Volcanological Special Bulletin
ERUPTION of Santiaguito Volcano with pyroclastic flows show.
Activity type : Peléenne
Morphology: Complex dacitic domes
Location geographic: 14 ° 44 ‘33 » North Latitude, 91 ° 34′ 13 » West Longitude.
Santiaguito volcano, as reported through information bulletins , experiencing a phase of high and continuous activity. This morning at 8:25 am, a loud explosion was reported, generating pyroclastic flows southeast and west of Caliente dome. This activity generated by the collapse of the eastern and western edges of the crater, has raised a mushroom-shaped clouds of ash that reached 4,000 meters. This one has moved to the west and southwest, at a distance of 25 kilometers. It is estimated that due to the fine ash it could reach a greater distance, as happened in the previous days.
The abundant ash fell on the Finca. Monte Bello, Aldeas Loma Linda, San Marcos Palajunoj, Las Marias and perhaps in the hours that followed, on San Felipe, Retalhuleu and other areas.
Santiaguito has recorded several similar events during this month and is expected to generate such events or larger in the hours and \ or days to come. So we should not remain near the volcanic complex because it can generate other pyroclastic flows reaching the people.
Therefore, The INSIVUMEH recommends:
At CONRED: to take precautions on vigilance to implement it deems necessary , to take precautions with the air quality near the volcanic complex, mainly due to ash falls that can contaminate drinking water and cause respiratory problems.
At the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, to take precautions with air traffic because ash travel in West and South-West directions, at 4000 meters above sea level, with the potential to be transported over distances of 25 km.

56.06 N, 160.64 E;
Elevation 15580 ft (4750 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Increased volcanic activity of Klyuchevskoy continues.
Explosive volcano eruption of Strombolian type continues. A strong gas-steam activity of the volcano continues too. Satellite data by KVERT showed an intensive thermal anomaly over the volcano all week. Strong gas-steam plumes extended for about 100 km to the south-east on 10 April, and to the north-east on 14 April.
At night, there is a constant glow in the crater in the infrared range. According KFGS RAS spasmodic volcanic tremors continue until 5.05 m / sec. and they continue to grow.
On the night of April 14 to 15, began the strengthening of volcanic activity with lava gushing into the crater up to 200 m, falling over the edge. In the morning, appeared on the Klyuchevskoi weak and occasional ash emissions.
In the evening, in the crater incandescent material emissions are observed. There is no lava flows on the slopes.

Nyiragongo , Democratic Republic of Congo :
Activity remains intense on Nyiragongo, as shown in the video of Jeremiah Franchetti, already author of several documents for LAVE about the eruption of Nyamuragira in 2011-2012. The video confirms the images posted previously by the Observatory of Goma. A vent shows a beautiful strombolian activity on the first terrace on the crater floor. During the most intense episodes, lava flows in cascades into the lake.
Small video of a night spent at the summit of Nyiragongo volcano (3470 m) to watch the lava lake (the largest in the world) but also the small eruption underway since 02.28.2016 on the east side inside the crater.
The fracture which is the active mouth seems not to have moved. This is desirable because we know that this is when the flanks of the volcano are cracking that lava becomes a real danger to inhabited areas. Fractured areas on the outer flanks of the volcano are certainly less spectacular that the lava lake, but it is nevertheless them that request a greater oversight.
Regarding the secondary wells in the crater of Nyiragongo volcano, it continues to show a very intense activity. This is evidenced by:
– Important lava fountains that continue to flow from the well.
– Lava flows that continue to spill on the third platform
– A spill of this flow in the main well was observed.
Regarding the main pit of the Nyiragongo volcano, though the lava is concentrated a little lower, it also continues to show a very intense activity with lava fountains observable to the north and east.

Asosan , Japan :
After a series of deadly earthquakes in Japan, a “small-scale” eruption of Mount Aso has been recorded by the Japan Meteorological Agency. However, it decided to keep the alert level at 2, as it was not immediately clear whether the natural disasters were related.
Plumes of smoke rose some 100 meters into the sky, according to local media and videos captured by witnesses. The eruption of Mt. Aso, located in southern Japan, was recorded at around 11:30pm GMT Friday.
Since small eruptions had been recorded at Mt. Aso even before the series of deadly quakes hit the area on Thursday and Friday, the Japanese Meteorological Agency has reportedly decided to keep the alert level at 2 on a scale of 1-5.
The volcano eruption follows two deadly earthquakes and dozens of powerful aftershocks that devastated Japan earlier this week.
