Four small pulses of ash or eruptions occurred Saturday on the Turrialba volcano.
Since earlier this week to this day there have been eight events.
Most do not exceed the crater. But this Saturday the ash was blown by the wind to the West of the volcano and reached Silvia community.
The most recent eruptions have reached 4000 meters higth.
The eruptions were confirmed by park rangers who remain in the vicinity of the volcano to prevent the entry of spectators.
It was also reported increased in seismic activity of the massif.
The Emergency Committee maintains the yellow alert in the region.
The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) recorded an eruption of Turrialba volcano on Saturday.
The event was presented to 1:55 p. m. and dropped ash on surrounding areas.
Strong gusts of wind, which persisted throughout the day, could cause falls of ash on other regions. According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), it was recorded speeds up to 80 km / h.
Maria Martinez, from the OVSICORI, said the activity lasted approximately 15 minutes and generated a plume about 500 meters above the crater.
« The moderate ash emissions continue intermittently, » said the expert.
According to experts, since December, the Turrialba volcano crater is 30 meters deep, as a result of eruptive activity since October 2014.
The Turrialba volcano, which some believed asleep, showed signs of change, just before 2005, with seismic swarms and expansion of fumaroles.
However, it had to wait until January 2010, when several mouths are open and erupted, the first in 144 years. The last dated from 1866.
Despite the volcanic activity, Tuesday, February 9, classes in schools near the volcano, will start normally.

Heavy degassing was observed during arrival in the afternoon, accompanied by a irregular but periodically heavy rumbling sound. The degassing plume was more or less consistent, but with periods of more sulfur gas output and short periods of total calm. After these periods of calm, larger degassing plumes tend to appear, accompanied by large rumbling sounds and in one case an eruption at 14:14. The eruption was accompanied by a shockwave, and seconds after an ash plume appeared that reached around 800m in height. Sounds of falling rocks or blocks was heard seconds after the appearance of the eruption plume. The ash content decreased within 30min after the eruption.
Next eruption happened at 15:45, and the ash-plume sustained for around 45minutes. Weather deteriorated (fog) around this time, but I managed to get a few pictures of it. The next eruption that started at 16:50. The 16:50 eruption was initially explosive, characterized by a booming sound, but ash-venting continued throughout the evening, and made no good conditions for photography.
Ash-fall was intense, and as it passed trough fog, it became wet and fell as “ash-flakes”. Late evening, intense crater-glow was seen minutes before a small eruption (23:41). Interestingly the crater glow that seemed this intense, was a precursor to a very small eruption, that did not seem to correlate. However I ended observations at this point because of the weather conditions.

Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Southeast Minahasa Regency admit they are having trouble cleaning up the volcanic ash from Mount Soputan, after the eruption on Saturday (6/2), because the affected area is so extensive.
« We are currently removing the volcanic ash especially in residential areas, affecting residents in seven districts, » said Chief BPBDs Southeast Minahasa , Erick Manaroinsong.
The seven sub-districts Tombatu, District of North Tombatu, District East Tombatu, District Pasan, District Ratahan, District Belang, and Ratatotok. « It is spreading more widely than the eruption that occurred at the beginning of this year, because now we have seven districts affected, » he said.
Meanwhile, a number of citizens affected by the volcanic ash began to perform environmental cleaning to their homes. « Since the morning we been removing and cleaning the ash that exists at home, our area has become thicker since last night, » said Rommy Mewengkang, East Tombatu citizens.
He said that until now, the affected part of the area was hit by the volcanic ash. « The raining of ash is ongoing. because the activity of the volcano is still going to put out hot clouds, rising into the sky along with the volcanic ash, » he said.
Erick added, related to the eruption, the BPBD also establishes the emergency alert status of Mount Soputan eruption. « It is still in a state of emergency since the eruption of Mount Soputan that occurred January 4 last, » he said.
Based on the data obtained, the activity of Mount Soputan occurred since Saturday (6/2) at 04:00 pm, marked the seismicity and the rumbling sounds of the mountain crater. The first eruption occurred at 14:37 pm, with hot clouds. at 20:00 pm an eruption with lava in both the north and east of the summit of the mountain, while a burst of volcanic ash led to the southeast of the mountain.

The Santiaguito Volcano Observatory relates that at 10:23, were again generated loud explosions from the crater of Caliente cone. Fallout and sensitive shockwaves over 25 kilometers from the volcano, were produced by this activity, accompanied by pyroclastic flows down the east and south sides of Santiaguito. Thick plumes of ash that formed a mushroom have completely covered the volcanic complex and the South, the West and East of the volcano.
The thick column of ash reached 6000 meters, and moved in several directions, north and southwest of the volcano. Ash falls are likely to affect areas like the city of Quetzaltenango, San Marcos Palajunoj, Loma Linda and others.
However, the column can move even further in the hours and reach other departments.
This activity of the Santiaguito volcano will continue to generate this type of event, and so we must take precautions and avoid staying near the volcanic area. Also take precautions in order that these volcanic ash does not contaminate drinking water.
