The National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN) – Volcano Observatory of the Southern Andes (OVDAS) announces that Friday, January 29, 2016 at 14:25 local time (5:25 p.m. GMT), occurred a new emission of ash from the Nevados de Chillan volcanic complex , associated with the recording of a seismic tremor signal , with a reduced displacement of 5.6cm2. The particularity of this activity is that the focus of the emission of volcanic material is located in the crater Arrau, in addition to the continuation of emissions in the newly formed crater.

Analysis and evaluation of information obtained by the monitoring network of volcano Nevado del Huila, during the week between 20 and 26 January 2016.
The Colombian Geological Service Observatorio Vulcanológico and Sismológico of Popayan reports:



During the period evaluated, 359 seismic events were recorded, of which 181 were related to rock fracturing process (VT type), and 170 with fluid dynamics in volcanic conduits. Of these, 142 events were classified as seismic events of long period (type LP), twenty-one (21) as hybrid events that have been linked to both failure mechanisms and transit of fluids (type HB) and 7 impulses of volcanic Tremor of low magnitude (TR).
During the week, it was possible to obtain images from webcams Tafxnú, Maravillas, Caloto and La Palma, in which the volcanic system degassing process were evident, showing a white steam column.

The technical sensors for the surveillance of soil deformation, acoustic sensors and variations of magnetic fields associated have not registered changes caused by volcanic activity.

Explosive-extrusive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 32,800 ft (10 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft.



Strong fumarole activity and an incandescence of hot avalanches on the lava dome of Molodoy Sheveluch volcano on 25 November, 2015.

A growth of the lava dome continues (a viscous lava flow reveal in the northern its part), fumarole activity, ash explosions, hot avalanches and an incandescence of the dome blocks and hot avalanches accompany this process. According to video data, an incandescence of the dome lava blocks and moderate gas-steam activity were observing all week. Satellite data by KVERT showed an intensive thermal anomaly over the lava dome all week.

Activity at the volcano seems to be increasing again. Constant glow and incandescent rockfalls at the active lava dome are visible on webcam imagery.
Based on satellite data, an eruption (explosion or pyroclastic flow) was reported this morning to have produced an ash plume that rose to 24,000 ft (7.3 km) altitude and drifted west.

Akhtarma Pashali , Azerbaïdjan :

The eruption of the mud volcano Aktarma Pashali in Azerbaijan was confirmed. The first explosion took place on January 26 at 7:20, with flames which are mounted to 120-150 meters. The second occurred 10 minutes later, with a flame with a height of 20 meters. The sludge produced by the eruption spread over an area of 200-250 square meters. The eruption then stopped.



The mud volcano has ceased its eruption, according to the chairman of the regional emergency commission Sahib Aslanov. No casualties were reported, as no establishment is located around the area. The Akhtarma Pashali is located 35 kilometers from the city of Shirvan. The crater diameter is approximately 10 square kilometers.
Aslanov noted that the last eruption of the mud volcano occurred in 1963, while the first volcanic eruption was reported in 1948. The mud volcanoes are a geological phenomenon quite common and more than a thousand volcanoes sludge are known to exist in the world.

Boyuk Khanizadagh, with a diameter of 10 km and a height of 700 meters, erupted in 2001, with flames at 300 meters in the air. That was the record for the flames emitted from a mud volcano.
