« The Ternate city government will implement emergency response operations for 14 days, from July 18 to August 1, to mitigate the effects of the eruption of Mount Gamalama, » Yusuf remarked here on Saturday.
The government has provided the refugees shelter in four locations. They are the Ternate Navy Headquarters, a hall at Sanggar Kegiatan Belajar, a hall in state vocational school 2, and a hall at the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
Moreover, the government is also organizing relief funds and deploying dozens of operational cars to evacuate the refugees.
Mount Gamalama erupted at 5:00 pm local time (GMT+8) on Saturday, spewing volcanic ashes to heights of some 500 meters from its crater.
According to Head of the Mount Gamalama Observation Post Darno Lamane, the volcano erupted at 8:10 am local time and spewed volcanic ashes to heights of some 800 meters from its caldera.
The observation post recorded 15 volcanic tremors of amplitudes between 0.5 and 1.5 millimeters, with an earthquake that lasted for 26.16 to 62.12 seconds.
In addition, the chief executive of unit management of Ternate’s Sultan Baabullah Airport, Rasburhany, said that the closure of the airport had been extended till Sunday, July 19, evening.
Irazu , Costa Rica :
The area near the Irazu volcano is characterized by several local faults active, being present in other seismic swarms as in 2010, 2012, and May 2015. In January 2012, several earthquakes are located near San Juan de Chicua, Carthage of less than 2.5 M and depths less than 5 km.
During 2015 were reported three earthquakes felt, located south of the crater of the volcano Irazu, from local faults, the first at 9:52 on January 2, M 2.7, the second on February 11th at 9:25 to 2.3 M and the last on May 7 at 3:26 p.m., M 2.0; these shallow earthquakes of 0-5 km deep.
Between the Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18, 2015, there was a new earthquake swarm that started at 11:44 p.m. pm Friday. During the twelve hours that followed, the region recorded more than 400 aftershocks of magnitude ranging between M 1 and M 3.2. These earthquakes have depths between 1 and 5 km. There have been reports from villages mainly north of Carthage as Cot, Pacayas, Llano Grande and San Juande Chicua indicating they felt more of these earthquakes overnight.
The OVSICORI as always, maintain its vigilance on these seismic swarms.
Chaparrastique ( San Miguel) El Salvador :
We continue to record tremors higher than the average of 300 units RSAM under the Chaparrastique volcano. The increase has been maintained since 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.
In the last 24 hours, the recorded values have fluctuated between 296 and 329 units RSAM, with an average of 310 in the reporting period.

The recorded values of the flow of sulfur dioxide by DOAS station in the town of San Jorge has remained above the normal average from June 14 until July 12, showing a slight decline in the last days.
The surveillance camera located on the hill of El Pacayal, recording occasional gas pulses from the central crater and infrared images captured by the surveillance camera located on the same hill, show no evidence of gas released at high temperatures.
Data recorded from 1 July 2015 to date indicate an inverse behavior between RSAM measures and measures the flow of sulfur dioxide (SO2), noting that when increasing the internal vibration, the flow of gases from the central chimney decreases. This suggests an obstacle impeding the partial degassing of the internal system, which causes an increase of seismic vibration (RSAM).
Each of these periods of increase in the value of internal vibrations were completed in small crises of very small scale, such as those that took place on January 26 and April 11 of this year, and 16 times in 2014, with no threshold uniform occurrence. While in the past, these periods are completed without an increase in expulsion of fine materials and have been identified due to the increase in the internal pressure of the system with a subsequent decrease of this value due to the depressurization of volcano.
