Following the activity of the CUMBAL VOLCANIC COMPLEX, the COLOMBIAN GEOLOGICAL SERVICE informs that:
For the evaluation period between November 7 and 13, 2017 seismic event levels similar to those observed in the previous weeks are maintained, with a total of 344 events and the prevalence of earthquakes related to fluid movements. Most of the time, fracture-type seismicity is located in La Plazuela Crater (North of the Cumbal Volcanic Complex), at depths of 0.6 to 10 km, and epicentral distances between 0.1 and 8 km. The earthquake that occurred on November 11 at 16:30, and located 3.9 km east-southeast of the volcanic complex, with a local magnitude of 2.7 on the Richter scale, was reported as felt by the inhabitants of the village of La Ortiga.

Favorable climatic conditions on the volcano made it possible to record the gas emissions for 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 November, mainly from the El Verde fumarole fields in the North-East and Rastrojos in the South-West of the volcanic complex. The emission columns were observed white, of variable height and of direction of dispersion dispersed by action of the wind.

Turrialba Volcano:
The seismic activity of the last 24 hours has been characterized by the recording of intermittent low amplitude and short duration volcanic tremor signals, as well as frequent low frequency (LP long period) volcanic earthquakes also short amplitudes. and duration. These signals are associated with continuous and persistent degassing through the western crater of the Turrialba volcano. The plume of water vapor, magmatic gases and fine aerosols emitted into the atmosphere remained at a height not exceeding 500 meters above the top of the volcano.

Small amounts of ash are emitted sporadically, but no cases of ash fall have been reported. The prevailing winds scatter the plume materials mainly to the South-Southeast. Poas Volcano:
The level of seismic activity of Poas is very low and is at the level of instrumental and environmental noise (Wind, rain, lightning, anthropic noise, etc.)
The holes in the bottom of the crater continue the vigorous degassing of a plume rich in water vapor, gas and particles of fine magmatic rocks and minerals. The low level of seismic activity indicates a system of conduits, cracks and cavities, where the fluids are transported, sufficiently open, which facilitates degassing.

There is no report of ash drop or smell perception of sulfur.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano:
No recorded volcanic seismic activity . A diffuse plume of water vapor and gas emitted by the active crater, which rises between 100 and 300 meters above the summit of El Rincón, is often observed.
