Lokon Empung , Indonesia :

Local authorities have prohibited residents and visitors from coming within a 1.5-kilometer radius from the crater of Mount Lokon in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, amid increased volcanic activity.

The volcano had shown increased seismic activity marked by tremors since Thursday, said Farid, the head of Lokon’s monitoring post.
Authorities have issued a waspada (Level II) alert level for the volcano.
“The tremors from Mt. Lokon suggest that gas and magma are migrating, which means pressure has been accumulating,” Farid said on Saturday.

The Lokon monitoring post has been coordinating with the Tomohon Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) since Friday in taking preventive measures.
Intense seismic activity could be followed with an eruption, although when this would happen could not be predicted, Farid said.
“We will keep monitoring the [volcano] and wait for developments. We hope the increased activity will not continue,” he added.
Mando Manguleh, an official at the Tomohon branch of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), said his office had recorded five small earthquakes since Thursday.

Fuego , Guatemala :

MINISTRY OF RESEARCH AND GEOPHYSICAL SERVICES, SPECIAL BULLETIN # 170 – 2017, Guatemala, November 5, 2017, 19:30 hours. (Local hour) .

The Fuego volcano begins a new eruptive period, the number 11 so far this year. According to OVFGO reports, 6 to 8 explosions are recorded per hour, generating ash columns ranging from 4,500 to 4,800 meters (14,763 to 15,748 feet), diffusing towards the West and the South-West, reaching a distance of 15 kilometers volcanic complex as well as jet engine-like degassing sounds with intervals of up to 5 minutes. The constancy of the explosions generates moderate incandescent avalanches that move materials to the edge of the vegetation.

So far, it has two lava flows, the first in the direction of the SECA canyon of a distance of approximately 1000 meters and the second in the Ceniza canyon with a length of about 600 meters.
Although the activity remains constant, the possibility of pyroclastic flow production persists, so it is recommended not to stay in the main canyons and their surroundings.

Turrialba , Poas , Rincon de la Vieja , Costa Rica :

Volcano Status Report as of November 5, 2017.

Turrialba Volcano:
Regarding the seismic activity during the last 25 hours, some VT type earthquakes and a tremor signal have been observed for 2 hours, of low amplitude. The camera shows very low degassing at the time of writing this report.

According to the meteorological station of the National Meteorological Institute located on the summit of the volcano, the winds are directed towards the Southwest, there is no report of the population on a smell of sulfur or on falls of ashes. However, at noon, ash was observed traveling westward, giving the exception to officials from Turrialba Volcano National Park reporting ash falls in La Central during the morning hours.

Poás Volcano:
When the weather allows , persistent outgassing can be observed with a plume of water vapor, magmatic gases and, occasionally, fine ash and aerosols in the environment. The level of seismic activity is low with the presence of a permanent low amplitude seismic signal (tremor). The winds disperse the plume mainly in the South-West direction according to the meteorological station of the National Meteorological Institute.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano:
According to the seismic stations located on the volcano, no type of activity has been recorded during the last 24 hours. The winds blow in the direction of Southwest. Visibility is reduced or zero

Arenal , Costa Rica :

Four Dutch tourists and guide treated for injuries after Arenal Volcano rescue .

5 NOVEMBER 2017. Four Dutch tourists and a Costa Rican guide were successfully rescued from Arenal Volcano Saturday morning after being injured during a summit hike to an area off-limits to visitors for safety reasons.
According to Radio San Carlos 1430 AM, which posted photos and video of the complicated rescue, the tourists were injured by a rockslide while they were hiking in one of the canyons near the volcanic crater.

The group finally left the mountain at 6 am Saturday after a lengthy and dangerous rescue effort that began around midday Friday and was complicated by unstable terrain, rain and cold, the station reported.
“The first [tourists] we rescued had various injuries; one of them had a broken collarbone and arm, and the last tourist had a leg injury and various bruises,” Alejandro Madrigal of the Red Cross told Radio San Carlos. “We took all of them to private clinics in La Fortuna.” Earlier this year, the Environment Ministry reported an increase in illegal tours to hike Arenal’s summit.
Visitors are not allowed within an established perimeter that averages 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the crater. The measure aims to protect visitors from both volcanic activity and rough terrain.
MINAE officials explained at the time that because the area around the volcanic cone is not an authorized tourist site, it does not have any infrastructure for visitors. The restricted area lacks tourist trails or proper demarcation, and it includes very steep slopes that are prone to landslides like the one that occurred Friday.

Piton de la Fournaise , La Réunion :

Newsletter of Saturday, November 4, 2017 – earthquake of tectonic origin felt.

On Saturday, November 4, 2017, 22:07 (local time – 6:07 pm GMT), an earthquake was felt by islanders, mainly in the west and southwest.

This earthquake was recorded by the seismometers of the Volcanological Observatory of Piton de la Fournaise. The first analyzes of this earthquake made it possible to locate it, 28 km below sea level between Saint Pierre and Saint Joseph. Its magnitude was measured at 2.5 on the Richter scale. There is considerable uncertainty about its location, which is possibly at sea. The OVPF staff is working on refining the location calculations for this event. Also location and intensity information could change marginally.

This type of event, felt by the population is recorded several times a year. This event is isolated and is of tectonic origin. At present, this earthquake has not been followed by replicas.
