Activity report on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm (local time).

The eruption begun on July 14 at 00:50 local time continues. The intensity of the volcanic tremor (surface eruptive intensity indicator) remains at a level equivalent to 50% of the observed value at the beginning of the eruption (Figure 1).

– No earthquakes have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

– The trend observed on deformation sensors, in particular GPS, seems to stabilize or reverse (to deflation). This parameter will be followed in the next few days.


The ground reconnaissance carried out this morning with the assistance of the Air Force Section and the PGHM enabled the OVPF members to carry out various surveys on site. The eruptive cone continues its edification, it is now completely closed and has a main mouth from which intermittent projections spring (Figure 2). A second, smaller mouth on the northern edge of the cone is much less active, only a few projections are rarely seen (Figure 2). Most of the activity is now in lava tunnels. Fractures within these tunnels allow escape from the arms of small lateral extension flows. This activity remains confined in the near part of the effusive cone.

The flow front has not changed since the last survey and is still 2.8 km from the eruptive vent.
Estimates carried out by satellite methods via the HOTVOLC platform (OPGC – Clermont Ferrand) show a minimum flow rate of 1-2 m3 / s.

Cotopaxi , Ecuador :

Activity bulletin of Cotopaxi volcano, Sunday 30 July, 2017


The surface activity of the volcano is low. In the morning, a small emission that the effects of the wind descended on the western flank was observed.



Since 11:00 am (TL) yesterday until 11:00 am (TL) today, 7 events long period (LP) have been recorded.
During the evening hours, the volcano remained quite clear. This morning we observed a slight emission of water vapor at the level of the crater which descended on the western flank of the volcano under the effect of the winds. From the top of the volcano has darkened.
Gas: 622 tonnes / day of sulfur dioxide emissions were detected with 12 valid measurements.
Rains and lahars: Rainfall was recorded in the area that did not produce lahars.

Reventador , Ecuador :

Reventador Volcano Activity Bulletin, Sunday, July 30, 2017


The volcano remains with a high and continuous activity. During last night we observed incandescent emissions and blocks falling down to about 800 m. This morning they were over 500 meters.



Since 11:00 am (TL) yesterday until 11:00 am (TL) today, 5 episodes of tremor harmonic (TRA), 14 episodes of ERT, 33 events of long period (LP) type and 28 (EXP).
Observations, emissions and ash:
During a few hours of the night, an incandescent glow was observed and rocks fell up to 800 meters below the crater. This morning, there were several emissions of more than 500 meters of altitude above the crater with directions North-West and North-East.
Rains and lahars: There were no rains in the area of the volcano

• This report will be published every day at 12:00 (TL). In the case of an increase or change in the behavior of the volcano it will be immediately published a special report.

Katla , Iceland :

All quiet on the Southern front: Nothing happening at Katla and Múlakvísl .

29 JULY 2017. There are no news from Múlakvísl glacial river and the Katla volcano in Southern Iceland. No earthquakes were measured in Mýrdalsjökull glacier, where Katla looms beneath, and everything points to the glacial river flood being mostly over.

Katla’s alert code was changed to yellow yesterday and although the glacial river flood is subsiding the Iceland Met Office won’t be changing the code back to green until Monday at first. The National Coastguard Helicopter took photographs of the caldera in the glacier yesterday which are being studied by specialists. Results won’t be ready until Monday.

Kegempaan Dukono


The G.Dukono’s level of activity remains at Level II (Waspada)
– The inhabitants living around G. Dukono and the visitors / tourists not to have activities, climb and approach the Malupang Warirang Crater within a radius of 2 km.


– It should be taken into account that volcanic ash eruptions occur periodically and that the ash propagation follows the direction of the wind and its velocity, so that the areas affected by the ash are not fixed. It is recommended that people around G. Dukono have always worn a mask to cover their nose and mouth, to use when needed to avoid the danger of volcanic ash on the respiratory system.
