Activity report of the Turrialba volcano:
12 July 2017 – 11h00

Turrialba Volcano:

Since yesterday, the volcano has shown a degassing activity and an ash eruption began around 14:00. The column of gas and ashes reached a height of about 500 meters and dissipated in a south-westerly direction. There was no report of odor of sulfur or ash falls.

The seismic activity exhibits low intensity tremor signals and low frequency earthquakes (Lp). During the night, there were also diffuse ash emissions that covered the camera. Currently there is no direct observation of the crater. The cloudy conditions in the area do not allow continuous observation of the crater.

Poas Volcano Activity Report:
12 July 2017 – 11h00

Volcano Poas:

The predominant activity in the last hours was degassing. The gas column reached heights of up to 500 meters and dissipated in a southerly direction. No reports of odor of sulfur were received. The seismic signal has few Lp events of low frequency, several volcano – tectonic earthquakes, the largest of which, yesterday at 18:11, with a magnitude of M2.4 degrees on the Richter scale, Was located west of the crater.

In addition, an average amplitude of the tremor signal is noted. The cloudy conditions in the area do not allow the constant observation of the crater. No sulfur odor report was received.

On the images that were captured on the morning of 12/07 by surveillance cameras located in the bunker of the RSN on the southern edge of the active crater, it is clear that there are no traces of water in the region of the lake . The pyroclastic cone formed in the area where the former dome was before now constitutes the main point of emission, from which is generated an eruptive activity. It is also possible to appreciate the point of emission of a plume rich in sulfur.

In June and during the first half of July, the activity generated passive ash eruptions, of variable duration and emitting variable amounts of solid. During some of the periods, incandescent ballistic blocks were issued. Between July 8th and 12th, volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded that broke rocks that are less than 1km deep with magnitudes (Mw) between M2,0 and M4,0. The recording of a moderate-amplitude volcanic tremor and other short-lived earthquakes associated with fluid circulation was also maintained.

Seismic activity is characterized by the Deep Volcanic Earthquake, Low Frequency Earthquake, and Hybrid Earthquake. Rock avalanche (Incandescent lava) is not identified.

The level of activity of G. Sinabung is at Level IV (Awas)
Recommendations:
Community and visitors / tourists should not operate within a 3 km radius of the summit, 7 km in the South – East sector, 6 km in the East – South – East sector of the sector , and at a distance of 4 km in the north-east sector of G. Sinabung. And people who live near the rivers that spill from G. Sinabung must remain vigilant about the potential dangers of lahars. Volcanic deposits formed a dam upstream on the Laborus River. People who live and move around the downstream watershed must maintain vigilance because these dams can be broken at any time with the result downstream of lahars / floods. The BPBDs Tanah Karo will disseminate immediately in case of disaster / lahar / flood threat to the people who live and move downstream, along and around the Laborus River.

Fire on Vesuvius.

It sounds like an eruption but it ‘s really a fire.

Fire, smoke, and ashes burn the slopes of Vesuvius for several days. Fear here has always been that one of the most famous volcanoes in the world is awakening.
