Sabancaya, Peru :

The number of explosions continues to decline. There were an average of 5 explosions / day, which were lower and of less energy (DR = 36 cm2). We observed a decrease in events associated with fluid movements (long period) and a slight increase in the frequency of events associated with the rise of magmatic materials. However, these remain with little energy. The tremor activity, linked to the emission of ash and gas, is still important.
The eruptive columns of gas and ash rose about 1500 m above the crater and spread more than 30 km to the southeast, predominantly.


The volcanic deformation, recorded with Global Positioning System (GNSS), shows a deflation since June 21, probably related to the reduction of gas and ash emissions.
The flow of volcanic gas SO2 remains moderate. However, on July 01 a value of 1472 tons / day, considered as a large flow was recorded.

Overall volcanic activity decreased from the previous week. This behavior could continue for the next few days.

Misti , Peru :

Activity report of the Misti volcano, updated summary of the main activity observed from 16 to 30 June 2017, Date: 3 July 2017.
El Misti is an active, young, explosive volcano and is considered one of the highest risk volcanoes in Peru because of its proximity to the town of Arequipa (17 km), which has a population of about one million of inhabitants and a very important infrastructure nearby (dams, hydroelectric power stations, airports, mining centers, etc.). Over the past 600 years, the volcano has exhibited at least one major explosive eruption, and a dozen or so fumaroles.

1. Sismo-volcanic monitoring:
The seismic activity of the Misti volcano has been maintained at low levels.
Complex -LF earthquakes (double events related to fracturing processes and fluid pressure) maintained the occurrence rate between 01 and 15 June. Such events were observed at a rate of one per day.
The dominant seismicity during this period is related to rupture processes, namely VT type earthquakes, which recorded an average of 53 events per day, slightly higher than the 38 VT / day observed during the two weeks preceding.



2. Satellite Surveillance:
Thermal anomalies: The Mirova system (www.mirova.unito.it) of the University of Turin (Italy) did not detect any thermal anomalies on the Misti volcano for this period (VPR = 0 Megawatts).
SO2 Anomalies: The « EOS Aura » GSDM-NASA satellite system (http://so2.gsfc.nasa.gov/) did not detect any significant anomalies in the density of SO2 (magma gas) for the volcano Misti.

The volcanic activity of the Misti remains weak.
Complex LF events maintain the occurrence of an average event per day, while VT earthquakes have increased slightly from 38 VT / day to 53 VT per day.
No thermal anomalies or high values of SO2 gas density were detected on the Misti volcano.

Any changes will be reported in a timely manner.

Volcanic Activity Summary:
No further ash emissions have occurred at Bogoslof Volcano since the explosion on Sunday, 02 July at 12:48 AKDT (20:48 UTC) and seismicity remains low. We are therefore lowering the Aviation Color Code to ORANGE and the Alert Level to WATCH. Additional ash-producing eruptions could occur at any time, however, with no detectable precursors.

Bogoslof erupted yesterday, July 2 at 12:48 AKDT (20:48 UTC). The 16-minute-long event produced a small cloud to 36,000 ft asl that drifted to the east passing north of Dutch Harbor. The eruption was observed in seismic, infrasound, and satellite data. No lightning was detected and there were no reports of ash fall. The Aviation Color Code/Alert Level was elevated to RED/WARNING. Following the eruption seismicity declined and there has been no signs of volcanic unrest detected in seismic, infrasound or satellite data since the eruption. The Aviation Color Code/Alert Level was lowered to ORANGE/WATCH this morning.

Report on the activity of the Volcanoes Poas, Turrialba and Rincon de la Vieja as of July 3, 2017, updated at 11:00 am.

Volcano Poas:
The volcano remains with low seismic activity. Short tremors of small amplitude are occasionally recorded. Frequent volcano-tectonic earthquakes near and to the north of the active crater are sometimes recorded. The plume of steam, gas and fine particles is about 300 meters above the crater and the prevailing winds disperse Mainly to the West-South-West and the North. No ash falls have been observed or reported, however, there has been reported a strong perfume odor of sulfur in Alajuela, San Rafael de Poas, Llano Grande, Turrucares; And in San José: Zapote.

The flash of intense light observed during the night continues through the webcams in the Boca Roja and Boca Azufrada fumaroles in the bottom of the crater (Figure 1). In early July, beginning at 01:15 am, the Boca Roja and Boca Azufrada fumaroles, located on the dried bottom of the crater, showed an increase in temperature and intensity of the nighttime glow. The Boca Azufrada issued all the morning of the 1st July of the flames produced by the combustion of the elemental sulfur (indicating a temperature of approximately 246 degrees Celsius). While the Boca Roja showed an incandescence and frequent strong expulsions of fresh lava bombs (strombolian eruptions) to a maximum height of 200-300 meters. The fragments of lava have fallen into the bottom of the active crater. During the night of 2 July and the morning of 3 July, sporadic ejection of a few bombs at low altitude and near the Boca Roja was observed. On Friday 30 June the fumaroles of Boca Roja and Boca Azufrada, recorded by the thermal camera, showed remote temperatures of 730 and 120 degrees Celsius, respectively.
On June 26, 2017 the particles of the Boca Roja plume were sampled using a drone. These were analyzed at the Lanotec National High-Tech Laboratory by scanning electron microscopy SEM JEOL JSM-6390 LV-EDS. More than 80% of the fragments correspond to young glasses (fresh lava ejected in semi-liquid form in the atmosphere) (Figure 2).

Turrialba Volcano:
The Turrialba volcano presents a tremor of low fluctuating amplitude and frequent volcanic earthquakes at low frequency. At 08:59 and 09:05 today, two small explosions of short duration were recorded. Since 9:30 am, passive emissions of gases and aerosols with small amounts of ash have been observed. This passive eruption of ash persists until the present report. An intense glow continues to be observed during the night in the west of the crater via the webcam.

The plume of gas and fine particles is about 200-300 meters above the crater, and is mainly dispersed to the southwest and west. During the morning, small ash falls in Ipís de Guadalupe were reported.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano:
In the last 24 there were 3 small hydrothermal eruptions: July 2 at 11:11 am and 12:54 pm; And on 3 July at 07:44, all of low intensity, thus not generating the ejection of materials out of the active crater.
