Rincon de la Vieja , Costa Rica :

Yesterday at 05:42 local time, a phreatic-type eruption on the volcano Rincón de la Vieja was recorded. The eruption was observed at the VRLE seismic station, located south of the crater. It has reports of a lahar on the northern flank of the volcano descending the rivers Penjamo, Azul and Quebrada Azufrosa.

According to the maps compiled by the AERMOD dispersion computer model by the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry (LAQAT-A) of the Ecole Química, the height of the column was less than 1000 m above the crater. Emissions would reach areas such as the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Santa Anita, Quebrada Grande, Pelon de la Altura, Hacienda Naranjo, Ahogados, Cañas Dulces, Ángeles, Hacienda Orosi and other places nearby.

Copahue , Chile :

37.856°S, 71.183°W
Elevation : 2953 m

Copahue Volcano. Eruptive activity late 11-06-2017. On yellow alert since last June 4.

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that webcams recorded an increase in ash emissions at Copahue on 4 June. There were no significant changes in the magnitude or number of earthquakes recorded by the seismic network. The report noted that due to inclement weather making visual observations difficult, the observatory did not know if the ash emission began in the early hours of 4 June, or the day before. The Alert Level was raised to Yellow (the second lowest on a four-color scale); SERNAGEOMIN recommended no entry into a restricted area within 1 km of the crater.
