Fuego, Guatemala :

14,473 ° N, 90.88 ° W
Summit :  3763 m

The Fuego volcano maintained its eruptive phase that began at 19:30 am Tuesday, February 9th. Moderate and loud explosions were observed in the early hours of the day and fine particles of ash falls were reported in Chimaltenango, Guatemala Antigua, Alotenango and Ciudad Vieja. With the scattering of ashes because of the wind direction, it is possible to record fine particles falls in Guatemala City.
According to the Special BEVFO Volcanological Bulletin No. 26-2016 of the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology -INSIVUMEH-, explosions generated a strong incandescent up to 400 meters above the crater and a column ash to a height of about 5000 meters above sea level, moving towards the North and the Eastover a distance of 25 to 30 kilometers away.

The eruption produced lava flows in the direction of Trinidad canyons, Las Lajas and Santa Teresa, reaching lengths between 1200 and 2000 meters. Avalanche from the edge of the crater are descended in the canyons of Trinidad and Las Lajas. Rumblings and explosions generate shock waves and cause vibration of roofs and windows on more than 25 kilometers from the volcano.
According to the bulletin of the scientific organ of the Sistema Coordinadora Nacional para la Reducción of Desastres -CONRED-, the eruption of the Fuego volcano can generate pyroclastic flows, volcanic clouds, descending from the volcano by canyons Las Lajas and El Jute and other canyons around the volcano.

The Executive Secretariat of the CONRED by the Unidad de Prevención of Volcanes, maintains communication and monitoring with local authorities, municipal and departmental, on additional changes that could present the volcano. Recommending that people living in surrounding areas to avoid rumors, covering food and water reservoirs, and evacuate when authorities deem it necessary.
At the Directorate General of Civil Aviation -DGAC-, it is recommended to take precautions with air navigation because of the ash plume moving in a northeast direction over a distance of 30 kilometers and can be extend depending on the evolution of the eruption.

INSIVUMEH be noted that the fourth episode of effusive activity of the Fuego for 2016 began on February 29 , lasted about 48 hours. At the beginning of the episode, ash plumes reached up to 1.3 km altitude and drifted 15 km to the South and Southwest, with lava fountains which amounted to 100- 150 m above the crater. In a special report on 2 March, the INSIVUMEH noted that explosions had persisted although seismicity had decreased. Explosions, detected up to 25 km, ash plumes which amounted 2.3 km above the crater and drifted 40km to the west , the northwest were recorded. Ash fell in Sangre de Cristo, Morelia, Panimaché I and II, , Yepocapa. A lava flow of 3 km long has advanced in the Honda ravine. Later that day, at 19:30, the INSIVUMEH said the effusive episode had ended. But weak explosions have generated ash plumes which amounted to 750 m and drifted 10 km to the westnorthwest. During the 3 and 5/6 March the explosions continued, producing ash plumes which amounted to 550 m and drifted 8 of 10 km to the West, the Southwest and the Southeast.

Tungurahua , Ecuador :

The volcanic activity is moderate to high.

In the afternoon, some pyroclastic flows and emissions were observed up to 3 km high. At night incandescent blocks avalanches were observed up to 1.5 km below the summit.
At this moment the volcano is covered.
Yesterday and today, until this bulletin, the wind direction was mainly to the southeast, so falls of ash in Pillate, El Manzano , Cotaló and Macas have been reported.

From 11:00 (TL) yesterday until 11:00 (TL) today, 29 episodes of tremor emission (TREM) lasting from minutes to hours, 39 explosions (EXP), 467 long-period events (LP ) were recorded.
Observations of emissions and ash.
During the afternoon of yesterday, the volcano remained partially covered. Pyroclastic flows associated with explosions during the afternoon, in some cases, down the West and Northwest sides up to 1000m below the crater level were generated. Emission columns up to 3 km altitude, with a high load of ash and incandescent blocks that rolled on the slopes during the explosions were also observed.
During the night, a glow was observed in the crater and block descended to 1,500 m below the crater level.
Today, the volcano remained cloudy.
Ash falls were reported during the night and this morning in the sectors of Pillate, El Manzano, Cotaló and Macas.

Bulletin on March 10:

From 11:00 (TL) yesterday until 11:00 (TL) today, 16 episodes of tremor emission  (TREM), 10 explosions (EXP), 321 events long period (LP) and two volcano-tectonic events (VT) were recorded.

Observations emissions and ash.
In the afternoon of yesterday, with the explosion of 3:10 p.m. TL, steam emission was observed with a moderate load of ash up to 2,000 meters above the crater that is directed towards the West and southwest.
In the night, the cameras recorded gas and ash emissions, it has been observed jets of incandescent blocks up to 300 m below the level of the crater, a small pyroclastic flow descended about 1500 meters in the ravine Achupashal north.
This morning, until the time of this report, the sector of the volcano is covered .

Rincón de la Vieja , Costa Rica :

The Rincon de la Vieja volcano became active on Thursday morning. A tall column of ash from the main crater was reported.
The last time of the volcano erupted was last September, when he presented an increase in its eruptive activity.
The authorities, by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica  (OVSICORI), confirmed that the Rincon de la Vieja volcano in the province of Guanacaste, continues to increase its activity, as shown by the eruption that occurred yesterday around 14:00.
According to experts, since the beginning of 2015, the volcano has entered a new phase, which is characterized by a constant phreatic activity.

Vecinos de la zona tomaron algunas fotografías de la erupción.

The temperature of the ultra-acid crater lake has increased. The deposits on the crater rim also increased, causing small lahars that descend into the northern rivers of the volcano.
The increasing in activity in the end of last year  continued in the first months of 2016, with sporadic eruptions that leave deposits of ash and sludge condensed on the crater rim.
But this is that yesterday afternoon and this morning that the people and officials of OVSICORI have confirmed two major eruptions. It is recommended to villagers not to approach the crater to avoid dangerous situations.

Chimborazo, Ecuador :

Lahar down the slopes of Chimborazo volcano

10 MARCH 2016. A loud crash was heard at the top of the Chimborazo volcano, located in the Andes, Ecuador, in the early hours of Thursday, March 10, 2016. A few minutes later, a lahar descended in the southwestern flank of the volcano.

The material, which also dragged huge boulders, reached the railroads , in the section of the tourist route ‘Ice Train’. So the tours will be suspended until the completion of the cleanup. The lahar overflowed the creek by four meters bypassing the Saint Lucia Chuquipogyo community, but completely covering the road and isolating the inhabitants of four communities.
« It sounded like a helicopter, like the first time it happened, was due to an ice thaw. We assume that the glaciers have broken and therefore chunks of ice have fallen, « said Manuel Paca, one of the residents of the sector.

Technical Secretariat of Risk Management has made a tour to determine the extent of the thaw. Preliminarily damages to homes and crops were discarded.
This Risk Management also ordered the mobilization of machinery Guano Cantonal Government for the cleaning of the road and railroad tracks. This would be the largest lahar, since the ice began to decline in November 2015.
