Masaya , Nicaragua :

Masaya volcano has increased to almost double its magma movement and its seismicity, said today the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INET). The signals of the amplitude level of the tremor in real time (MRS, for its acronym in English), measured every ten minutes, which under normal conditions varies between 150 and 620 units on the Masaya, exceeded the value today 1000, said the INETER in its statistical report after twelve hours of surveillance. The MRS real-time measurements indicate the total activity of a volcano, the movement of magma, rock falls and even earthquakes, and is one of the tools volcanologists to evaluate a possible eruption.
The volcano has caused alarm among the population of Pacifico Nicaragua , Tuesday , when it generated a series of  earthquakes of magnitude M 4.1 on the Richter scale, without damage or significant losses have been reported.

Masaya, known among scientists as the most active volcano in Latin America has increased its activity in December, when a « lava lake » appeared in the crater Santiago. Its level has increased in recent days, according to official information. The Centre for Disaster Operations (CODE) of Nicaragua was activated yesterday after the earthquake. The classes were suspended for a day in three towns around the volcano. In recent days, authorities of the Volcano National Park of Masaya have closed their doors to the public, attracted by the place that can be reached by car to the edge of the main crater, Santiago. The National Disaster Prevention System (SINAPRED) has not ruled out a major activity of Masaya at any time, and made recommendations on how to deal with a possible earthquake originating from the volcano.

In the last 24 hours, with low emissions of volcanic gases were recorded the occurrence of two earthquakes related to the movement of magma in the caldera of Masaya volcano.
The first took place at 6:43 p.m. yesterday in the north of the caldera of Masaya, and had a magnitude of M3,2 degrees and was felt by the population.
The second earthquake took place at 22:17 yesterday, near the crater Santiago, of magnitude M1,2 degrees.
The volcanic tremor of high energy persists and seismic amplitude in real time (MRS) has averaged at high values between 100 and 780 units.

Fuego , Guatemala :

The Fuego volcano maintains the eruptive phase that began at 19:30 am, Tuesday, February 9th. Moderate and loud explosions were observed in the early hours of the day and fine particles of ash falls were reported in Chimaltenango, Guatemala Antigua, Alotenango and Ciudad Vieja. The scattering of ashes because of the wind could involve falls of fine particles in Guatemala City.

According to the Special Bulletin of BEVO # 26-2016 of the Volcano National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology -INSIVUMEH-, explosions generate high incandescence of 400 meters above the crater and ash column from a height about 5000 meters above sea level, which moves to the north and north-east over a distance of 25 to 30 kilometers away.
The eruption produced lava flows towards the canyons Trinidad, Las Lajas and Santa Teresa, reaching lengths between 200-2000 meters. Pyroclastic flows down to the ravines El Jute and Las Lajas, produced by the constant effusion of high energy. Explosions  generate rumble and shock waves, causing vibrations in the roofs and windows more than 25 kilometers from the volcano.

According to the bulletin of the National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction-Conrad, the eruption of the Fuego can generate pyroclastic flows down the volcano to Las Lajas and El Jute canyons and other canyons around the volcano .

The Executive Secretariat of the CONRED, through volcanoes Prevention Unit, maintains communication and monitoring with local , municipal and regional authorities , on additional changes that could present the volcano. Recommending that people living in the surrounding areas to avoid rumors, cover food and water, and evacuate when authorities deem necessary.
At the Directorate General of Civil Aviation -DGAC-, you should take precautions to air navigation. The ash plume is moving northward at a distance of about 30 km that can be extended depending on the evolution of the eruption.

JMA reported that an explosive eruption at Showa Crater (at Aira Caldera’s Sakurajima volcano) began at 1856 on 5 February and generated an ash plume that rose 1.3-1.8 km above the crater rim. Lightning was observed in the ash cloud, and incandescent tephra was ejected as far as 1.8 km onto the flanks. The Alert Level was raised to 3 (on a 5-level scale); it had previously been lowered to 2 on 25 November 2015. During an overflight the next day scientists did not see any significant changes to the crater; a plume obscured views of Minamidake summit crater. Sulfur dioxide emissions were 100 tons/day, which was the same level measured on 3 February.

Explosions were detected on 8 February. Based on JMA reports and satellite data, the Tokyo VAAC reported that during 8-9 February ash plumes rose to altitudes of 1.5-3.3 km (5,000-11,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted E and SE.
