Awu, Indonésia :

Evaluation:
During the month of November 2015 the visual observation of G. Awu has not been possible because of the fog cover .The peak was not observed.
The results of the monitoring of the seismicity of G. Awu during this month showed an significant  increase of volcanic earthquakes , especially for the type of shallow volcanic earthquakes (VB), with usually a maximum of 4 episodes per day and up to 74 events 24 November 2015 at 19:00.

Awu 2 (24-11-15)

Potential hazards:

The characteristics of the last eruption of Mount Awu formed an explosive magmatic eruption, with steam, volcanic gases and incandescent material. Due to the eruption, a lava dome is formed in 2004; solfatare with a field of fumarolics gas including CO2, H2S, SO2, N2 and CH4, can be dangerous if they are above the limit value of the thresholds.
In the case of an explosive eruption, it is necessary to be aware of the potential emission / rockfall (incandescent) and ashes.

Awu 1 (24-11-15)

Conclusion:
Based on the analysis / seismic and visual assessment, the level of volcanic activity of G. Awu was increased since the date of November 24, 2015 at 8:18 p.m. from Level I (normal) to level II (Waspada).
Intensive monitoring is ongoing to evaluate the activities of G. Awu and diffusion of the danger of eruption of G. Awu should be done so that people around the volcano are warned.
If there is a significant decrease / increase change in the volcanic activity of G. Awu   , the activity level can be lowered / raised in accordance with the level of activity and threats.

The massive Gunung Awu stratovolcano occupies the northern end of Great Sangihe Island, the largest of the Sangihe arc. Deep valleys that form passageways for lahars dissect the flanks of the 1320-m-high volcano, which was constructed within a 4.5-km-wide caldera. Awu is one of Indonesia’s deadliest volcanoes; powerful explosive eruptions in 1711, 1812, 1856, 1892, and 1966 produced devastating pyroclastic flows and lahars that caused more than 8000 cumulative fatalities. Awu contained a summit crater lake that was 1 km wide and 172 m deep in 1922, but was largely ejected during the 1966 eruption.

Nevado del Huila , Colombia :

Subject: Weekly Bulletin activity of volcano Nevado del Huila.

The level of activity of the volcano continues to LEVEL YELLOW (III): changes in the behavior of volcanic activity.

Analysis and evaluation of information obtained by the monitoring network of volcano Nevado del Huila, during the week between 11 and 17 November 2015, the Servicio Colombiano Geológico Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Popayán reports:

During the period evaluated, 198 seismic events were recorded, including 104 were related to rock fracturing process (type VT) and 94 with fluid dynamics in volcanic conduits. Among these, 89 events were classified as long-period type (LP), three events associated with processes involving both fracture mechanisms such as fluid movements (HB type) and two pulses of volcanic tremors with a low energy level (TR).

The images taken by the webcam Caloto and La Palma, showed a degassing process of the volcanic system.
The sensors for monitoring soil deformation, acoustic sensors and magnetic field sensors recorded no changes associated with volcanic activity.
Therefore, it is concluded that during the evaluation period, the volcano continued to show stable behavior.
The level of activity of the Nevado del Huila volcano continues to LEVEL YELLOW (III).

Kanlaon, Philippines :

KANLAON VOLCANO BULLETIN 25 November 2015 8:00 AM

Kanlaon Volcano’s seismic monitoring network recorded eleven (11) volcanic earthquakes during the past 24 hours. Moderate emission of dirty white steam and ash plumes that rose up to 150 m high above the summit crater before drifting to the southwest was observed in the morning.

Alert Level 1 status now currently prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, which means that it is at an abnormal condition and is in a period of current unrest. The local government units and the public are reminded that entry into the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited due to the further possibilities of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions. Civil aviation authorities must also advise pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano’s summit as airborne ash from a sudden eruption can be hazardous to aircraft. DOST-PHIVOLCS is closely monitoring Kanlaon Volcano’s activity and any new development will be relayed to all concerned.
