However, the data recorded by the Volcano Observatory of Piton de la Fournaise (OVPF), reveal a new pressurizing of the volcano associated with summital and deep earthquakes since the end of the effusive phase. An eruption is possible within days or weeks.
In this context, the prefect has decided to move in vigilance phase of specific device Orsec * Volcano Piton de la Fournaise on November 17, 2015 at 12:00.
After the recognition conducted by the BRGM,  ONF , OVPF and the PGHM, public access to the upper part of the Enclos of the Piton de la Fournaise from the path of Pas de Bellecombe is allowed again into the following restrictions:
Absolute prohibition to engage beyond the provisional limits which are materialized on trails KAPOR and RIVALS.

This is also recalled that a signaling forbidden to approach the edge of the crater of Dolomieu at the observation platform, because this part presents a risk of collapse. Extreme caution and respect of the markup are essential . «

ACTIVITY RECORDED BY THE VOLCANOLOGICAL OBSERVATORY :

Since the end of last eruptive phase of the Piton de la Fournaise (October 31 4:17 p.m.), the residual signal which continued to be recorded by the Observatory’s instruments has gradually eased and eventually virtually disappear, which was not observed in the two previous inter-effusive phases. Now, only a few rare flashes of gas are identified in the seismic signal and a more traditional activity was relocated:

The summit and deep seismic activity has resumed.
Inflation detected at the top has now resumed.
We also record an increase in the flow of deep origin gas.
